Rappin Ass Thursdays #61

Posted on Apr 12th, 2012 in Downloads > Rappin Ass Thursdays by Mr. Goldbar

Been too long… here’s some raps (and a zip with everything if yer lazy).

Meek Mill “Rollin” [mp3]
Mustard on the beat hoe. Meek 4 prez.

Too $hort feat Kokane “Shut Up Nancy” [mp3]
Two of the best West Coast dudes ever come together to deliver an important message to the Nancys of the world.

Kardinal Offishall “Kill Shot” [mp3]
Nottz love them gun sounds, and Kardi brings back that “Ol Time Killin” / Kill Bloodclot Bill rappin ass rap.

Schoolboy Q Funkmaster Flex Freestyles [mp3 + video]
TOUGH.

Doughbeezy feat Slim Thug & Kirko Bangz “My Car” [mp3]
Praising something as “listenable” might sound like a backhanded compliment, but Doughbeezy’s recent tape has received more repeat spins from me than I ever would have expected, just for that reason. It’s the kind of thing you put on in the background while doing something else and only pay casual attention until the third or fourth go round when you realize every track is jamming as a motherfucker. This joint consolidates the tape’s charms into one awesomely melodic TX team up.

Problem “Welcome” [mp3]
Problem feat Bad Lucc “Rollin” [mp3]
Also wild consistent on repeat listens is Problem’s Welcome To Mollywood. But when has rappers on ecstasy ever been a bad thing? (No one say Ja Rule.)

Dorrough “IDGAF” [mp3]
Dorrough “Chug” [mp3]
Been a minute since “it’s a Nitti beat” kicked off one of your favorite jams, huh? On “IDGAF” he swaps the slow snap of “It’s Going Down” for a bounce tempo clapper. More please! This isn’t the only return of a “where they been at?” production favorite on the new Dorrough tape, though, as Chicago’s Xcel (“I Ain’t Even On Yet,” “Watch My Feet”) pops up with “Chug” for the drunkies.

King Louie “What Up Tho” [mp3]
Speaking of Chicago… I am on the Chief Keef bandwagon as much as anyone else (BANG! SOSA!) but when it comes to the new generation of Windy City street rap upstarts, King Louie is my personal favorite. “Too Cool” has been the jam for a minute, and “What Up Tho” (off the new The Motion Picture tape) is just as amped up and knuckleheadedly awesome. “Kill ya dog, yeah we’ll Vick em/ Better cuff ya bitches cause we’ll dick em/ Haaahh!”

Casey Veggies “Verified” [mp3]
Casey Veggies “Get That $” [mp3]
Yung Vegetables has an ear for slaps! Not a lot of guys can sound equally at home over the LA radio thump of “Verified” (courtesy the still slept on J Hawk… I could write a dissertation on the awesomeness of “Cat Daddy” but will save that for another time) AND the half-time bongo beat freakout of “Get That $” (by Trackademicks’ bud Polyester), let alone personalize the flow as much as CV does here.

Fam-Lay “Skrunt Owt”
WOW… six (seven?) years later, this gets a video. And it still bangs! If the video wayback machine is still turned on, I’d like to see a clip for Beanie Sigel / Peedi Crakk / Twista “Gotta Have It” next. Thanks in advance.
