Sammy and Maggie are back with a new cover for ya, this time turning Ryan Leslie and Red Cafe’s rap-n-b jam into a “triumphant disco banger,” as Sam puts it. It’ll get you in the mood for their first live show of the year, going down at Brooklyn’s Glasslands on Sunday, January 29th (get advance tickets here) and set the stage for their brand new EP of originals, Ring Ring, dropping on Valentine’s Day, 2/14. Stay tuned…
Check out this new tour mix from Yung Bartholomew, featuring his remix of Cubic Zirconia’s “Take Me High” which has become a DJ favorite of everyone from Brodinski to Diplo (check him opening his Holy Ship! set widdit). Grab that CZ mix for yourself right here and look for Bart at an OZ club near you.
Bay Areaaaaa! This jam is taken off Kool A.D. of Das Racist’s Palm Wine Drinkard mixtape, featuring our homie Trackademicks, Mondreman of Main Attrakionz and Dope G. For more FG x DR collabs, check Danny Brown’s verse on “You Have to Ride the Wave” off Heems’ new mixtape Nehru Jackets.
You can’t ban the snowman! But you can turn him into a disco house song, as Sammy Bannas did with this awesomely feel-good, filtered take on “I Do”. Download from Sammy’s Soundcloud.
Damn son, where’d ya find this? On Flosstradamus’ Facebook page, of course. “Like” them to unlock the download, and hear Josh and Curt trapping out Major Lazer’s latest single. Boom!
Get ready to get blazed with Alabama bad boy Jackie Chain and our own Nick Catchdubs when their After Hours mixtape hits on 2/7. You may have already heard the late night bleeps of “Molly” and “Night Is Young” (featuring Freddie Gibbs and fellow FG representative Maggie Horn of Telephoned), but the final project has even more in store. To hear Catchdini tell it:
“I went into the tape thinking that we would just record a bunch of stuff like “Molly” over more electronic production, but what ended up coming together over the months ended up feeling way more like Jackie’s own signature sound: super melodic and diverse music to ride to. G shit, country shit… it left me free to just pick and chose the stuff I liked from a DJ standpoint and connect the dots.”
Check the cover art after the jump, as well as a new video for “Molly” that Jackie and Co shot during the Fool’s Gold / iheartcomix “Past Yo Bedtime” party at a mall in Austin during last SXSW. Read More
