Sammy Bananas’ debut solo track (that’s him vocodering!) “Move Your Body” is available now on iTunes, Beatport, and everywhere else fine digital music is sold, backed by appropriately groovy remixes from Toy Selectah, Cassian and Smalltown Romeo.
But is that enough Sammy B for you? The answer is HELL NO of course! Mr Bananas has put together this “Move Your Body” mix stuffed with feel-good house vibes and much more. Download it now pon the SoundCloud.
You already know Brooklyn-based Pomp&Clout (aka Ryan Staake) thanks to inventive music videos for the likes of The Suzan and Congorock. What you might not know, however, is that P&C has been curating a pretty awesome collection of DJ mixes as well.
Nick Catchdubs is the latest to contribute to the series, which offers selectors an opportunity to explore different musical styles beyond what they are typically known for. He put together this rap-centric “Catchy Bashment” dancehall mix. “People have really been pushing techno car alarm vibes in di dance lately – which is fine when done right, but I only need one Major Lazer, not thirty Minor ones. Crazy shit happens at lower BPMs too. Bugged out, thugged out, plain old smoked out – here’s my digital dancehall rap tape, I hope you enjoy it.”
After the OG version vocodered its way into your heart on the Fool’s Gold Vol 1compilation, it was only natural that Sammy Bananas’ debut solo track (that’s him singing!) “Move Your Body” gets the proper FG single treatment, which you can pick up now on Beatport.
“Move Your Body” comes backed by remixes from Cassian (whose disco take is already getting BBC radio love), Smalltown Romeo and Toy Selectah, who flips the synth pop workout into a signature “Ravertron” version, complete with new vocals en espanol (again, with Sammy B on the m-i-c). With the whole world going cumbia / moombahton crazy, what better time for some plantain vibes of our own? Preview Toy’s mix on RCRD LBL and be sure to cop all the other versions on the single.
