Our friends at The Fader premiered a new Treasure Fingers club knocker today, here’s what they had to say:
“For some reason—let’s chalk it up to the longest winter ever—we have a serious yearning for disco right now. Not some crusty Saturday Night Fever antiquities but brand new how am I suddenly dancing in a club in my underwear over the top shit. Apparently, our brainwaves reached Fool’s Gold Records who just sent over Treasure Fingers‘ new song, which sounds exactly like that.”
FG friend Todd Edwards just released his new one “I Might Be” on Scion A/V, backed with remixes by Joy Orbison, MJ Cole, Feadz and My Dear Disco. Download the whole thing over here.
When you’re done, hit XLR8R for a new profile on the producer, featuring some quotes from Kingdom, who’s debut “Mind Reader” features a most excellent remix by Todd that you can grab on iTunes, Beatport and everywhere else fine digital music is sold (12″ vinyl on the way!)
Head over to RCRD LBL (or hit the widget below) for the latest installment of Track’s fan-favorite series of “remixtapes” – a combination of his own official remixes for artists from Chromeo to Kid Cudi to Zero 7, alongside unofficial flips of Wale, Kenna and more – most of which feature brand new raps from Track and the rest of his Honor Roll crew.
One of the highlights is “Prime Factors” (which makes it’s debut here), a half time hip hop jam based around the rave piano breakdown from Jokers Of The Scene’s “Baggy Bottom Boys.” And DJ Tap.10 is on the cuts as always!
Cop a physical copy on 4/15, release party details coming soon…
Nick Catchdubs whipped up a new mix for Scotland’s LuckyMe collective (Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, et al) and you can download it from their mixtape page (alongside other goodies from BenUFO, FaltyDL, HudMo and many more), grab the direct mp3 link, or subscribe to the podcast on iTunes here.
Some nice words on it from Dom (half of the crew’s The Blessings): “Last year we April Fooled about this and this year it just sorta happened naturally. Nick mailed us out the blue a while back looking for Rustie’s Neko joint and a couple weeks later me and mo were standing in Austin in mother fucking shorts, eating nachos at The Fader Fort at SXSW, watching Nick blast out that new Drake edit. Shit was one of the most perfect moments of our tour. Nick’s so effortless with this shit, spanning so much in the 45 minutes it’s impossible to deny Fools Gold as one of the leading dance music labels of our time.”
Calgary’s Hi-Fi Club has been a home away from home for many Fool’s Gold DJs on Canadian runs. So of course we’re psyched that the club’s resident jam-masters Smalltown DJs and Wax Romeo aka Smalltown Romeo are hitting NYC tonight for a guest set at Flashing Lights (88 Palace in Chinatown, RSVP here!!!) alongside Nick Catchdubs, DJ Ayres and Jubilee.
1,000 lucky folks in Austin for SXSW this past weekend got their sweaty mitts on this sampler CD for Donnis’ forthcoming mixtape Fashionably Late. Fortunately for the rest of y’all, he decided to start uploading tracks from it, with this new joint “OD” (produced by “Gone” beatsmith Needlz) leading the pack. Download here!
Slow Roast is the new, FG-distributed label from our homies Kill The Noise and Craze. The dynamic duo (and friends) have cooked up some heavy choons for you guys over the past few months, and they’ll start dropping very, very soon. To whet your appetite, they launched their inaugural “Hogcast” series with a minimix from Craze, an extended mix from KTN, a bunch of interview stuff, and more.
Download Hogcast #1 at Media Contender, and read a Q&A with Craze about the label’s origins while you’re at it. If you’re in Austin this week, be sure to come rock out at Slow Roast’s first ever SXSW party (3-8pm on Friday 3/19 @ Barcelona), featuring sets from the label’s founders, friends like 12th Planet, Star Eyes, and our own Nick Catchdubs, and more. Flyer after the jump! Read More
Head over to The Fader blog for the premier of The Suzan’s “Home,” produced by Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. We’ll be dropping it on a limited-edition 7″ later this spring, and it will also appear on the Suzan’s full-length Fool’s Gold album this summer. “Cool joy” pretty much sums it up!
