Chromeo vs NYC

Posted on Jul 17th, 2009

Attention all Chromettes and Funkateers! Tickets for Chromeo’s only NYC-area show this fall went on sale today. It’s gonna sell out, so cop tix early if you want to check the dynamic duo (perhaps with some special FG guests?) performing at Irving Plaza on October 16th.

Dave and Pee won’t be doing any other gigs because they have to finish writing and recording album number three. Whet your appetite with a brand-new track off Chromeo’s forthcoming DJ Kicks compilation, an amazing cover of the Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why” that you can download for free at chromeo-djkicks.com.

FLS GLD RCRDS

Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.

We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music – and generally just kicking it – so come through and start your evening with us!

To get you psyched, hit the jump to download ALL of the free Fool’s Gold music available on RCRD LBL – tracks, remixes (our own as well as jams our artists have crafted for others), mixtapes and more. Over 50 tracks! Read More

Honor Roll LA Explosion

Posted on Jul 9th, 2009

Got a ton of additional LA appearances by Trackademicks and the whole Honor Roll crew this weekend to go along with the previously announced Turntable Lab in-store (which Lambo & The Snow Bear made a crazy video flyer for, out of the kindness of their hearts – peep it below).

Also check Track on Lyrics’ Born latest mixtape on this new song “Block Bots” also featuring Clyde Carson.

Greenmoney on Brooklyn Radio

Posted on Jul 8th, 2009

UK production duo Greenmoney have been rocking Fool’s Gold HQ with some truly inventive remixes as of late, from their absolutely massive festival rework of Trevor Loveys and Sinden’s “Organ Grinder” to their hybrid, funky takes on Busy Signal’s “Tic Toc” and our own DJ Gant-Man’s “Juke Dat Girl.”

We’ll be dropping Greenmoney’s debut original tunes on Fool’s Gold later this year, but in the meantime you can keep up to date with their productions, favorites and inspirations “broadcasting from a rave shed near you” on the Greenmoney radio show, which is now available for download every week on Brooklyn Radio (in addition to the live show every Sunday night on Ministry Of Sound Radio in the UK). The first episode is up now, peep the ace tracklist after the jump. Read More

Theophilus London Added To A-Trak's 10,000LB Hamburger Tour

Posted on Jul 6th, 2009

Right as the 10,000LB Hamburger Tour was kicking off this weekend, we found out that Rye Rye had to drop off the trek. But hip-hop don’t stop, so we are psyched to announce the addition of Theophilus London to A-Trak’s state-to-state calvacade of goodtimes (Treasure Fingers is still holding it down, along with all other previously announced special guests). If you’re not familiar with Theo’s particular brand of mic science, check this Fader profile, download his debut mixtape, and give a listen to his latest jam, a remix of The Very Best’s “Warm Heart Of Africa” featuring our boy Ezra Koenig.

Theo hops on the tour 7/11 in Houston – full lineup and ticket info after the jump! Also be sure to follow A-Trak, Treasure Fingers and Mr London on Twitter for the latest and greatest in room service mayhem AS IT HAPPENS. Read More

Check out these Kid Cudi 4th of July freestyles from the always-entertaining Tim Westwood radio show, including some off-the-head bars over Hard House Banton’s UK funky anthem “Sirens” (and some Jada and Red Cafe for good measure). Check back here for news on some new FG-commissioned Cudi remixes coming very soon – and no, they’re not for “Day ‘N’ Nite”…

Kingdom BK B-Day + New Club Vortex Mix

Posted on Jul 6th, 2009

This Friday (7.10) at Glasslands in Brooklyn, prepare for one bass-ed out birthday celebration with Kingdom, who turns one year older at his Club Vortex residency with a little help from friends Maluca of Mad Decent and DJs Nguzunguzu and Total Freedom (excellent MySpace name!) of LA’s Wildness party.

The DJs also put together a new mix for the party, featuring a bunch of brand new + unreleased Kingdom tracks. We asked our royal pal if there was a tracklist and he replied “sadly not really. but kinda good too… its in the great tradition of mysterious list-less mixtapes i guess?…in that they sent me the most fragmented tracklist from three different email addresses and half of the info was listed as “?????” they recorded parts live mixing on vinyl, parts on ableton, parts on CDJs, and recorded live sound effects, vocals, and live instruments over the whole thing (which is what they do at their wildness party in L.A. too).” Download it here and check for yourself!
