Welcome to the inaugural Rappin Ass Thursdays (mega pause!)

Che Grand & Izza Kizza, and DJ Soul’s Big L tribute mix. Lesssgoooooooooooo!!! Read More

Stray & Grass is the brainchild of Christopher Brave aka one half of Bag Raiders aka “Stray” and his flatmate (“Grass,” duh) who devised a whole magical world of food / rap themed t-shirts and cheeky r&b songs. Dive into the site, download the mixtape, buy some tees!
In other Bag Related news, Bang Gang has just released their “Turbo Love” remix single in OZ (stay tuned for an exclusive Jan Driver mix on the Raiders’ forthcoming Fool’s Gold EP) and the guys produced a elaborate rap epic for countryman MC Snob Scrilla. Download em!

Volume 2 of the FOOLCAST series comes from none other than our own Italian electro prodigy Congorock, but it’s not what you might expect. We listen to all kinds of stuff at FG HQ and want the FOOLCAST to reflect that – so we asked him to put together a mix of some of his punk and hardcore favorites that would show off a different side of his personality and keep things musically unpredictable on the blog.
Says Rocco: Hey brothers, here’s my hardcore punk mix for Fool’s Gold. I wanted to call it “The Furious Years” like something related to the past – its old stuff (nothing after 2003) that I listened to when I was younger. It was total fun working on this because I rediscovered music I didnt remember at all! I put some tracks from my old bands (La Quiete and Death Of Anna Karina), Steve Aoki sings on the This Machine Kills track (his old band), and there’s even a His Hero Is Gone track called “Fool’s Gold”. I hope you like it!
Download the podcast (and subscribe to the whole series to get future mixes as soon as they drop!) at iTunes or via your favorite RSS reader at the FG podcast page. Tracklist after the jump, more heat on the way!

My connection with Passion Pit dates back to December 2007, when my band Miss Fairchild was planning a show at legendary Boston venue Great Scott and were looking for an opening act. A friend suggested I check out this new band made up of some kids from Emerson College. I went to their myspace and had “Sleepyhead” on the brain the rest of the day. They graciously agreed to join the bill with us for their first real show off the Emerson campus. My man Etan from Basstown (a.k.a Ninja Tune recording artist Shuttle, a.k.a Nate Donomyer) was the guest DJ at the show that night and went on to become PPs drummer.
Today I present the next chapter in my history with this awesome band, my official remix of “The Reeling,” the first single off the band’s debut LP Manners. I’m really really pumped about this track and hope you check it out. Shout to Nate and Passion Pit, keep killing it dudes!

Now that Congorock’s excellent video-game break “Runark” single is finally out on vinyl (buy it now at Turntable Lab and everywhere else fine records are sold) we’re helping spread the word with these two previously-unreleased remixes of b-side heater “Exodus.”
Malente (who has a FG single of his own out this summer) beefs up the drums and throws in a retardoid drum-roll breakdown, while French beat obsessive Kap Cad takes a totally different approach, flipping the same track into an uptempo, juke-inspired take for all the clubheads and footwork-ers.
Also London FG fans! Be sure to check Congorock making his live debut this Friday at Club 333.

The latest edition of our blog Q&A series of friends-n-fam brain pickage features none other than Chicago sons Flosstradamus, who recently took a bit of a break from touring to focus on production and studio work, including their debut single with Caroline from Chairlift, De La Soul’s recent Nike+ project Are You In and a slew of remixes including Trackademicks’ “Enjoy What You Do” and this Totally Michael mix, a collab with FG’s DJ Gant-Man.
After the jump, J2K drops knowledge behind-the-scenes of all those productions, as well as what its like to have your face plastered across billboards throughout the country, and the pitfalls of buying synths on Craigslist. Read More

Little Dragon is a dope group.
I think I told yall that before.
I like dope groups.
And occasionally I’m fortunate enough to be able to remix them.
