Before designer Pilar Zeta worked her magic on Brenmar’s Award sleeve, we hit up Jason Aston at Wonder Mob to make a body scan of the DJ/producer. Watch how a hacked Xbox Kinect controller takes Brenmar into the matrix. Wavy! Pre-order Award now to get instant tracks (and the whole thing on 1/20). Read More
This past Friday we launched the fifth Fool’s Gold Artist Series event, featuring work from the whole IRAK crew. Tons of folks came through to celebrate and check out the new pieces – which you can still see up close and in person at the FG store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn. We’ve got some shots after the jump.
The Fool’s Gold Artist Series in-stores give us a chance to turn our store into a gallery, show off some new work and exclusive items from talent curated by FG art director Dust La Rock, and invite everyone to come and hang.
Following exhibitions from Cody Hudson and JK5, Daniel Albrigo, HAZE and Grotesk (you might have seen the last one pop up on your television), the next takeover of our wall will feature new multimedia work from none other than New York’s infamous Irak crew. You don’t want to miss this one…
Come through to the opening on Friday, May 4th from 7-9pm at the FG store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn. Artists will be in attendance, refreshments will be served, and limited edition shirts will be available (we’ll have them on the webstore too, act fast). Read More
Complex just premiered the Shaqtastic cover art (by the one and only Dust La Rock) for Action Bronson and Party Supplies’ Blue Chips, out next week. They also leaked the tracklist, which reveals guest spots from Roc Marciano, Meyhem Lauren and Das Racist, as well as a song named after billionaire swag icon “Steve Wynn.” Suffice it to say, this one is going to be a jammer. Watch for it on complex.com this coming Monday. Read More
We’re proud to present new work from HAZE as part of our Fool’s Gold Artist Series. As a teaser of what the opening has in store, Dust La Rock linked up with the ink master at his BK studio and brought back some pics and video for you to enjoy. (Eagle eyed FG fans will recognize the gold frame design from the HAZE piece that adorns the front of our store!)
Check the art out in person – and grab limited edition t-shirts while they last – at the Artist Series opening this Friday (1/27) from 7-9pm at our store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Read More
Tomorrow (Friday, 12/2) at our retail store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn, we’ll be featuring the work of Daniel Albrigo, a NYC-based illustrator and noted tattoo artist, for the second installment of the Fool’s Gold Artist Series, curated by Dust La Rock. The inaugural edition was a fun one, and the follow up should be no different – Daniel will be showing new canvases and prints, we’ll be premiering an exclusive, limited-edition shirt featuring art from the flyer, and there will be complimentary refreshments from our friends at Bushmills from 7-9pm.
If you made it to the inaugural edition of our Artist Series, you already know the deal: we turn the Fool’s Gold store into a gallery, show off some new work and limited edition items from talent curated by FG art director Dust La Rock, and invite everyone to come hang for a few hours.
The second installment will be next Friday, December 2nd, featuring the work of Daniel Albrigo, a NYC-based illustrator and noted tattoo artist. He’ll be showing new canvases and prints, and we’ll be premiering an exclusive, limited-edition shirt featuring art from the flyer. Culture! Refereshments! Don’t miss out.
Every single piece of Fool’s Gold artwork – each individual record sleeve, flyer, logo, shirt, etc – has sprung direct from the mind of our inimitable art director Dust La Rock. He’s a connoisseur! So it’s no surprise that Dust’s unique sense of taste extends beyond his own work to that of his friends and peers. Knowing that, we put together the Fool’s Gold Artist Series – a collection of limited-edition projects curated by Dust, featuring newly commissioned graphics by some of his own personal favorites.
The series launches with t-shirts and prints by Chicago’s Cody Hudson and BK’s own JK5. Come through this Thursday (8/4) as we host a special artists reception at the FG store, 536 Metropolitan, from 7-9pm. And check the guys sporting their respective tees after the jump. Read More
Last weekend the fam trekked out to California for the opening of Dust La Rock’s “Joking Victim” at LA’s HVW8 Gallery, featuring music by Jokers Of The Scene and multimedia collaborations with JK5, Kareem Black, Angela Boatwright and Bruce LaBruce. You can now check out photos from the opening and the entire exhibition at the HVW8 website, as well as purchase prints from the show at the gallery store.
There you’ll also find the limited edition 7-inch single of JOTS “Joking Victim,” featuring an ambient “Laughter Death” mix of their show-inspiring title track, as well as Vin Sol’s darkly groovy “Trocadero Mix,” both making their wax debut. There’s only 100 signed and numbered copies of this bad boy, so grab it while you can! The “Laughter Death” mix also scores one of the pieces in the show, a video collaboration between Dust La Rock and Kareem Black, which you can check after the jump.
