Electric Fields is an electronic (duh) music and media arts festival in Ottawa that’s “dedicated to the presentation of new and significant performance and installation works created at the crossroads of art, science and technology.” It should make sense, then, for Ottawa’s resident electronic wizards Jokers Of The Scene to get involved. They’ve made an exclusive mix which you can download for free until the festival closes on 11/23. Grab it here:
Daniel from LA Riots just sent over this clip from the booth during his set at Berlin’s Ghent’s massive (35,000 sold-out tickets!!!) I Love Techno festival from this past weekend, along with a recording of his live set that you can download here:
“On the recording you can actually hear the crowd chanting in unison…thousands of people all chanting like they were at a soccer match!” says Daniel. They call it “football” over there homie, but we’re feeling you!!!
We already shouted out the JOTS / Trackademicks show at Cinespace in LA tonight (11.18), but gotta remind you once again now that Laidback Luke has been officially added to the show! Don’t be a dummy, roll out for this…
Los Angelenos get THREE chances to check out Jokers Of The Scene over the next few days. Rejoice!
First up is a free in-store DJ set Sunday evening (11/16) at Turntable Lab on Fairfax (map) followed by a sure-to-be sweaty edition of Banana Split at LAX with Mike B and friends supporting. Then on Tuesday (11/18) JOTS are rocking at Cinespace alongside Trackademicks, Head Like A Kite, Dan Oh, Them Jeans, Miss Toats and a rumored SOOPER special guest?!? Don’t miss em! Full size flyers after the jump.
Every month Scion records radio shows at Plan B in NYC, with various guest stars bringing the jams. Then later that night they throw a free party with all of those DJs. For the children! This month’s session features our buddy Sinden alongside Fool’s Gold’s own Fistfight (of Nacho Lovers) and Nick Catchdubs, as well as the big homie DJ Eleven and the regular sized homies Michna and Blu Jemz. Catch this action packed line up for free tonight (11/11) at Plan B @ 339 E. 10th St (right off Ave B by Tompkins Square Park) starting at 10pm.
As we continue on… the Scion/FG Fool’s Gold Remixed tour rolls into Philly tonight with Sammy Bananas, Trackademicks, Nacho Lovers and Treasure Fingers rocking the Barbary, and then finishes up in Baltimore on Wednesday with Sammy, Nick Catchdubs, Trackademicks, and Jokers Of The Scene at Ottobar. Both shows are FREE with RSVP! Get your names in and get more info at www.scion.com/avrelease.
We threw our 2nd annual CMJ showcase (and one-year anniversary party!) this past Thursday at Webster Hall in NYC. There was much cake, revelry and tunes from the crew, here’s the photo galleries and related linkery:
My personal highlights include Nacho Lovers playing Circle Children’s “Zulu” while giving Armand a pound, Gant-Man’s epic hypeman skills keeping up with Kid Sister’s set, Dave1’s extra dapper suit, and of course being able to rock with practically the whole FG fam (Nachos, JOTS and Trackademicks stuck around all CMJ weekend so we’ve been handling photo shoots and meetings alongside late night ridiculousness and more food than I’ve ever eaten in my life. Call me Nick Fatdubs). Special shout-out to Scion for sponsoring the show and to Kenny and the whole Webster Hall team for making sure our champagne glasses were filled up.
A-Trak and DJ Mehdi traded apartments this fall, which means we get to have one of our favorite families living smack dab in BK for a couple months. To celebrate, Married To The Mob and Roxy are throwing a welcoming party tonight at Sway. Free with RSVP, don’t miss out!
