Hoodboi is leading the pack of visionary young LA producers. His debut Fool’s Gold EP Palm Reader was an inspired, late-night take on international club sounds, bringing underground vibes to the masses while injecting his own unique brand of matrix-friendly dance appeal in the process. Now, the Athletixx producer gets taken for a spin himself on Palm Reader Remixes, featuring reworked EP tracks from his club-smashing peers. Vindata (Owsla) turn “By Ur Side” into a half-time masterclass in pitched vocals and triumphant laser riffs, while Alizzz (Mad Decent) drags “Shallow” into warehouse trap territory. The Lido-featuring title track gets three uniquely awesome versions: SIROJ funks out “Palm Reader” into a slow electronic strut, Fool’s Gold OG Treasure Fingers flips it into a modern garage house anthem, and Jesse Slayter cranks up the festival-ready #feels. It’s a wide-ranging batch of remixes that do justice to Hoodboi’s own high-res originals. We’ve gazed into the crystal ball… the future is bright!
A-Trak is everywhere these days. After selling out his second annual Gold Gone Wild tour, the #RealDJing champion brought Fool’s Gold’s hugely successful Day Off festival franchise across America, merging hip hop heavyweights with electronic music’s elite and capturing the sound of a generation in a way that only he can. As a Grammy-nominated producer, his discography is just as varied: in the past few months alone, he’s taken hip-hop futurism mainstream with “Out The Speakers” (featured in Mountain Dew’s Superbowl commercial and viral ad campaign) while reinventing EDM riffs with cheeky guitar-led single “Ibanez” and churning out ubiquitous remixes for Alesso and the Chainsmokers. But last winter’s solo outing “Push” marked the beginnings of a new signature sound for Trizzy, elevating all that dance world expertise with high-def emotions and mature songwriting.
With his new single “We All Fall Down” (out October 2nd on Fool’s Gold and streaming now) A-Trak follows the muse of “Push” even further into pure pop heaven. Featuring vocals from UK soulman Jamie Lidell, “We All Fall Down” transcends dance music’s genres and trends. It’s a welcome blend of throwback attitude (’80s electro soul, ’90s Chicago house, two-stepping Y2K chart toppers), thoroughly modern production, and earworm melodies that feel timeless from the very first listen. Play it now and check A-Trak premiering the tune as a “World Record” on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 show.
Madeaux makes his Fool’s Gold debut with the perfectly-titled New Wav EP, reshaping North American dance music in his own image and injecting a needed dose of synth pop realness in the process. The six EP tracks are a wildly diverse bunch, connecting the dots between decades of inspirations. “Kill For Me” bangs like a lost Depeche Mode anthem, while A-Trak collab “Lost In Translation” is the unexpected warehouse jam of the year. Nowhere are these genre-splices more powerful than on New Wav’s title track, where Madeaux flips Kaleena Zanders’ postmodern diva vocals over high-NRG synths and a Miami bass-gone-Berlin drop. The tide is high for this one, and the future most definitely belongs to Madeaux. Download New Wav on iTunes or stream on Spotify!
Black Atlass is quite literally the only artist on earth to soundtrack Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent ads while featuring on Action Bronson songs. This diverse appeal is a testament to the captivating voice of Alex Fleming, the young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and who created Black Atlass as a vehicle for his unique vocals, heart-on-sleeve lyrics and experimental production techniques.
Following the well-received “Paris” single and Young Bloods EP (the latter a personal favorite of visionary director Woodkid, who created mind-bending visuals for single “Jewels” featuring Fleming and supermodel Anja Rubik) and this spring’s free Jaderelease, “Haunted Paradise” is the first of three new Black Atlass singles on Fool’s Gold, which will later be accompanied by a series of self-published zines featuring original work from Fleming himself.
The song made its world premier this Saturday on Jaden Smith’s MSFTS FREQUENCY Beats 1 show, awash in stark guitar riffs and dubby reverb. The moody beauty of “Haunted Paradise” sets the stage for a new creative phase of Black Atlass, and we can’t wait to hear what he’s working on next… download “Haunted Paradise” on iTunes or stream on Spotify now.
“BROCKHAMPTON is not another rap collective nor do they aim to be. They are The All American Boy Band and they want the world to take note.” So declares Kevin Abstract, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, Rodney Tenor, and Merlyn Wood, straight outta San Marcos, Texas. They came together as BROCKHAMPTON on New Years 2015 and immediately made noise with bold mission statements, crazy style, and peerless music, winning the VFILES x FG x MTV VFILES LOUD! competition with “Dirt,” a postmodern posse cut made from spazzy piano riffs, bugged out references (“my iPhone got iPhones so all my friends can talk to me”), and wildly self-assured flows that bounce from syrup-speed to hyperactive within seconds. There’s a new generation of Parisian producers making waves in the dance scene, yet none are splashing as hard as Malaa. He’s getting his the fast way, the ski mask way (literally: we’ve never seen him), and isn’t asking permission before slicing up house music with his own French cut swagger. Following cosigns from DJ Snake and Tchami, remixes for Major Lazer and Post Malone, and a series of increasingly awesome “Who Is Malaa?” DJ mixes, the balaclava’d boss drops “Pregnant,” his debut original track on Fool’s Gold. With its cheeky rap sample, très funky bassline, and the thumpingest kick drum of the year, “Pregnant” takes the Maury show straight to Ibiza. Malaa might not be the father, but he’s making a strong case to be your daddy. Download “Pregnant” on iTunes now!

Whether reshaping LA’s dance scene for a new generation with his Athletixx crew, or delving into uncharted beat territory with solo tracks and remixes, California DJ/producer Falcons is a force to be reckoned with. Terra, his debut Fool’s Gold EP, showcases four cuts of imaginative, bass-driven songwriting that highlight Falcons’ confidence as a producer and collaborator, all while detonating the party like nothing else. After drippy summer jam “Aquafina” sets a tone with rap upstarts GoldLink and Chaz French, Terra bounces from rolling ragga hybrid “Flame,” guest-starring UK heroine Stush to the moody title track (built on Falcons’ own chopped and screwed vocals), before closing out strong with post-hyphy bomb “Boss Mackin” featuring San Francisco’s A-1. Terra is club music as its most elemental. Dig in…
ManMan Savage is young Atlanta’s next star, mashing dread-swinging charisma and mosh pit energy with real life grit. “Takin Shots” is his Fool’s Gold debut, following a series of self-released ATL favorites and appearances as a mainstay on the scene – that’s him starring in Future’s “Trap N****s” video and hitting the stage with ILoveMakonnen on his “Loudest Of The Loud” tour. “Takin Shots” is a clear leap forward for ManMan, whose screaming delivery (over a banging, post-apocalyptic beat from Chris Fresh of 808 Mafia) simply cannot be ignored.
