Fool's Gold DJs at SHOP

Posted on Jun 16th, 2011

(Click for larger version)

We told you about SHOP, the pop-up retail jam to end all pop-up retail jams, put together by our buddy Phil Chang and the Wieden+Kennedy crew. But hey, if our word isn’t enough, see what the NY Times, AdWeek, Thrillist and PSFK had to say about the free event, which previewed last night and continues until Monday on the 6th Floor of 150 Varick Street (between Spring and Vandam).

Along with goods from the likes of Steven Allan, Brooklyn Tailors, Rogan, A-Morir and other fabulous brands, there’s a table of new and exclusive FG merch right next to the DJ booth, which – lo and behold! – we stocked with friends all weekend long. Peep the schedule above for who will be playing on each day. Come through, say hey, and buy something…

Danny Brown x Random Axe

Posted on Jun 14th, 2011

The new album by Random Axe (the underground rap supergroup of Sean Price, Black Milk and Guilty Simpson) is out today on Duck Down, featuring the appropriately grimey Danny Brown collab “Jahphy Joe.” Used to rock Rockports, swisher in the Carhartt/ I would never fuck your bitch, she look like an aardvark…

If you need further convincing, give the whole album a preview listen over at Complex.com.

Cajmere f. Dajae "Brighter Days (Just Blaze Remixes)"

Posted on May 17th, 2011

For our FG holiday bash two years ago, we invited Just Blaze out to play a house set (which would turn out to be the first of many parties with the Megatron Don). We posted the audio from our crazy, snowed-in basement party online, and apparently the folks at Cajual were listening, because they enlisted Just to remix Cajmere and Dajae’s classic “Brighter Days,” which is out now on Beatport. Check it out and stay tuned for some more FG x JB very soon…

Dust La Rock "Joking Victim" Exhibit Online

Posted on Apr 21st, 2011

Last weekend the fam trekked out to California for the opening of Dust La Rock’s “Joking Victim” at LA’s HVW8 Gallery, featuring music by Jokers Of The Scene and multimedia collaborations with JK5, Kareem Black, Angela Boatwright and Bruce LaBruce. You can now check out photos from the opening and the entire exhibition at the HVW8 website, as well as purchase prints from the show at the gallery store.

There you’ll also find the limited edition 7-inch single of JOTS “Joking Victim,” featuring an ambient “Laughter Death” mix of their show-inspiring title track, as well as Vin Sol’s darkly groovy “Trocadero Mix,” both making their wax debut. There’s only 100 signed and numbered copies of this bad boy, so grab it while you can! The “Laughter Death” mix also scores one of the pieces in the show, a video collaboration between Dust La Rock and Kareem Black, which you can check after the jump.

(Attention LA zombies: you can still check the show in person until May 8th!)
