In advance of his show this Friday at Good Room in BK with fellow funksters Gigamesh and Cassian, Sammy Bananas dropped off a new mix for the good people at Discobelle. Vibe out to it (sez one Soundclouder: “i could def fold 3,000 Abercrombie logo shirts to this jam”) and for more Sammy action, pick up his still-smoking Money Time EP on iTunes and everywhere fine digital music is sold.

Montreal’s Shash’U has quickly become a force on the beat scene with an inventive, muscular new take on dance music. After making waves with his debut Fool’s Gold EP Thru Da Night earlier this year (an immediate DJ favorite and BBC Radio pick) he delivers an amped up sequel EP today in the form of PWRFNK, slapping futuristic, heavy bass over ’80s-inspired midnight electro.
Shash’U’s companion EPs are both available now on iTunes, and fans can pre-order a a limited edition, deluxe vinyl edition now at store.foolsgoldrecs.com, collecting Thru Da Night and PWRFNK on two 12″s along with a fold-out poster of the wraparound sleeve art by acclaimed illustrator Ron Wimberly.
Fresh off triumphant sets at Fool’s Gold showcases in Austin and Miami this month, Shash’U celebrates PWRFNK with a hometown release party this Saturday (4/4) at Le Belmont joined by FG’s Nick Catchdubs and his MTL fam. After the jump, check out a new vid for Thru Da Night highlight “Don’t Fight It” and stay tuned for more!

There’s no one in the game quite like A-Trak. The DJ icon, Fool’s Gold founder and Grammy-nominated producer wears many hats (pun intended), but he still shines brightest on stage, combining forward thinking musical selections with true turntable fireworks. Once a year, the flag-bearer of #RealDJing takes his spectacular show to small venues where he can be closest to fans. And it’s that time of year again.
This June, A-Trak will be joined by MPC beat king Araabmuzik and dancehall futurist Ape Drums on the Fool’s Gold “Gold Gone Wild” tour. A-Trak is known for his largely improvised sets, and this time you can expect Araab to join in on the acrobatics. Acclaimed artist and frequent collaborator Kidmograph provides brand new stunning visuals, and every venue will get its own Fool’s Gold pop-up kiosk, emulating the Brooklyn label’s flagship store.
Says Trizzy: “I’ve been in the studio for the last couple months. The first thing I want to do now is play shows where I can spin whatever I want for as long as I want. The best environment for that is clubs, so I picked my 6 favorites in North America. To me these are like incubators where I can try out new routines that later make their way into my festival sets. I can’t wait to push my limits every night!”

Los Angeles is home to some of the most innovative young club producers in the nation, and Hoodboi may be the most exciting of the bunch. Whether solo or collabing with like-minded DJs in his Athletixx crew, Hoodboi’s energetic, emotional tunes feel equally at home in a Jersey basement or a Zelda bonus level. It’s an all-in approach to electronic music that will warm your emoji heart.
Palm Reader is Hoodboi’s debut EP of original music, a bold leap forward from the R&B bootlegs and party tracks he cut his teeth on. The four tracks are physical and lush; raw club OOMPH sprayed with a candy gloss. From soaring, new-age opener “Dusk” to the hypercolor title track featuring Lido, Hoodboi is making 1080p dance records like none other. Get Palm Reader on iTunes now!
