Next Tuesday (10/25) A-Trak, DJ Premier, Stretch Armstrong and the X-Ecutioners will get together at Brooklyn Bowl to pay tribute to the life of their beloved friend and fellow DJ, Grand Master Roc Raida. Suffice it to say, this is a night that is not to be missed. Get your tickets now, all proceeds will benefit Roc Raida’s family. Meanwhile, read A-Trak’s remembrances of Roc Raida on his blog and in this Q&A with Noz.
It’s a celebration, beeeeches. We’re four! And like we do every year around this time, we’re throwing a party to commemorate another year of label-dom. The Fool’s Gold 4 Year Anniversary party is going down Saturday, October 22nd at Tribeca Grand in NYC. It’s FREE, and will feature performances by our FG fam, friends and even Mr Thugged Out Millatainment himself, N.O.R.E. (WHAT WHAT!)
As heard on Fool’s Gold Radio (and everywhere else A-Trak has been DJing this summer), the Trizzy-enhanced version of the Rapture’s gospel stomper “How Deep Is Your Love” is out now on iTunes, Beatport and everywhere else fine digital music is sold.
How can I imagine life without Mehdi? It’s a question I never thought I would have to ask myself. Mehdi was without a doubt like a brother to me, a friend well beyond our music ties, a kindred spirit and someone who played an irreplaceable and constant role in my life. Last week we threw our second annual DAY OFF party in New York City, joined by a few thousand of our friends. Like the last one, only bigger and crazier, it was an amazing day and night, featuring performances from Juicy J, Danny Brown, the Brothers Macklovitch (A-Trak and Dave1), Just Blaze, Cubic Zirconia, Party Supplies, Nick Catchdubs and very special guests ASAP Rocky and DJ Mehdi.
A ton of y’all tweeted cameraphone pics of this to us throughout the weekend, but here’s a full size scan of Danny Brown, A-Trak and Party Supplies in the New York Times’ fall fashion mag, sporting some quilted menswear (hence the “Diamond Dogs” headline, that’s how print media works!) and looking tuff in A1 Records. Click the pic for a full-size version, and read the whole mag here.
