Hey kids, physical media! The people asked for Catchdini’s album IRL and we obliged. (We’ll let the man himself take it from here…)
About a year ago I put out my album Smoke Machine, and people kept hitting me up about pressing it on CD ever since. So in place of a cake, we’ll celebrate with twelve tracks on compact disc, along with the More Smoke remix EP as a bonus, extra illustrations from cover artist Niv Bavarsky, and some shout-outs and hidden messages. Get your copy now at the FG store, and geek on some liner notes while you’re at it! Read More
After dropping the singles “Bizness” with IAMSU & Jay Ant and “Wuts That” with B.I.C., Nick Catchdubs properly announces his full Smoke Machine LP (out 4/28) with bizarro NYC jam “Full House” featuring Troy Ave and Heems. (Cue bomb drop sound effects.) Says Catchdini:
“Full House” started as a beat I made on my couch. Too jiggy to live as an instrumental headphone thing, too weird to give to any artists for their own projects. So with WEIRD JIGGY as a spiritual principle, I went out and recorded an album piece by piece, stockpiling vocals (Troy & Heems were recorded – like most of these – in the side room at Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn) until I had twelve records that felt so much like “me” that they wouldn’t fit anywhere else but Smoke Machine.
Bay Areaaaaa! This jam is taken off Kool A.D. of Das Racist’s Palm Wine Drinkard mixtape, featuring our homie Trackademicks, Mondreman of Main Attrakionz and Dope G. For more FG x DR collabs, check Danny Brown’s verse on “You Have to Ride the Wave” off Heems’ new mixtape Nehru Jackets.
