Now on our fourth consecutive Labor Day, Fool’s Gold’s annual Day Off extravaganza is going to make history with our biggest lineup to date. Day Off unites the upper echelons of hip hop and electronic music in true New York style, including a rare appearance by hit makers Duck Sauce, FG’s own rap superstar Danny Brown, cult heroes A$AP Ferg and Migos and the critically acclaimed Run The Jewels (El-P and Killer Mike), alongside mysterious electro supergroup Unibros, label mainstays World’s Fair, GrandeMarshall, Party Supplies and Nick Catchdubs, streetwear dons #BEEN #TRILL, and more.
Having outgrown its previous Soho venue, the FREE bona fide festival is now planting its flag in the label’s own backyard at Williamsburg Park. If you’ve attended DAY OFF in previous years and turned up with the likes of Juicy J, French Montana, DJ Mehdi, Flatbush Zombies, Yelawolf and Chromeo, you’ll know this is the best way to end your summer (and the only way to enjoy a Monday).
The party doesn’t end there: the official NIGHT OFF afterparty will be just down the street at Brooklyn Bowl, starting at 11pm. Stay tuned for more announcements as Fool’s Gold expands the DAY OFF franchise to 3 more cities this fall!
Party Supplies is the American Dream. It is the sound of Justin Nealis, producer behind critically-acclaimed rap collabs with Action Bronson (Blue Chips) and Danny Brown (“Grown Up”) setting up a mic stand behind his MPC and strapping on a Stratocaster. Joined by multi-instrumentalist Sean Mann, the two write classic rock from the future. Half Chromeo, half Easy Rider, the Brooklyn duo drop blue collar funk, school gym foot-stompers, and yearning city boy ballads over drum machine beats on their forthcoming Fool’s Gold debut album, Tough Love. Inhale and salute. Check out “Beautiful Girl” and peep the Tough Love tracklist after the jump.
Check out this in-depth feature on Party Supplies as part of Nah Right’s “In The Lab” series, giving insight on studio vibes, working with Action Bronson (and their upcoming Blue Chips 2) and talking about what to expect from his debut album Tough Love.
The Fool’s Gold Festival Stage kicked off a new year of all-singing, all-dancing partytimes deep in the woods of Michigan. FG’s contribution to the Electric Forest featured A-Trak, Danny Brown, Flosstradamus, Oliver, Just Blaze, Craze, Nick Catchdubs, Treasure Fingers and Party Supplies on the same stage, an all-day display of awesomeness captured in the video above.
Today marks the one year anniversary of Danny Brown’s “Grown Up” video… started from a Scion A/V premier and now we here, three million (and counting) views and one mtvU Video Of The Year Woodie later.
Danny’s Party Supplies-produced ode to adolescence is one of the most iconic clips in the FG catalog, thanks in no small part to director Greg Brunkalla and pint-sized bruiser Dante Hoagland, making his acting debut. To celebrate today’s milestone, Greg and his production company Walter Pictures just posted Dante’s audition tape, which you can peep after the jump. Get “Grown Up” now on iTunes. Read More
