A-Trak f. Donnis, Pill, Danny Brown & CyHi Da Prynce “Ray Ban Vision (Remix)”

Posted on Apr 7th, 2011

Stunna shades: on! Trizzy revitalizes the rap remix with Fool’s Gold’s first ever posse cut, keeping the CyHi Da Prynce chorus from his OG “Ray Ban Vision” (which you can grab on Fool’s Gold Vol 1) and enlisting Donnis, Pill, and Danny Brown to kill it on brand new verses over a supercharged, scratch-enhanced beat.

Rap Radar was first to spill the beans, and you can download the mp3 starting at noon today on A-Trak’s Facebook.

Fool's Gold "Day Off" Recapmania!

Posted on Sep 28th, 2010

As you saw in the video for “Barbra Streisand,” our inaugural Day Off party on Labor Day in NYC was beyond crazy. Guest raps from Yelawolf, Pill and Donnis, DJ sets from The Brothers Macklovitch (A-Trak & Dave1), Just Blaze, the Slow Roast crew (Craze, Klever & Kill The Noise) and Nick Catchdubs, and a live performance by The Suzan…the whole fam put it down!

Check this recap video by Yours Truly to share all the Day Off vibes, from beats to burgers to Mr Goldbar busting out his finest dance moves (they also got full songs from Yelawolf, The Suzan and Donnis). There were a bunch of other photographers and party professionals there to capture us at our best: check these shots from Mel Cole / Village Slum (here and here), Metromix, Kirill Was Here, Nicky Digital, Hi Fi Cartel, LTD Mag, Bongo Boy (with a Yelawolf interview too), iNime, Mr Mort’s favorite crowd looks, a bunch of YouTubes from br0nxr0yaltii, Slow Roast-ed footage from Tim Nolan, OkayPlayer vid and some pics and video from Dante Ross. If you’ve got more shots or footage, leave them in the comments!

Thanks to the crew at City Winery and all our production / promotion partners Scion, Jelly NYC, The FADER, LTD+, and Bushmills, all the FG soopa interns, and a giant Mr Goldbar bear hug to FG homegirl Dnyce for all her help behind the scenes. We’ll be back with more parties very soon! After the jump, some of our favorite Day Off moments. Read More

Rappin Ass Thursdays #37

Posted on Jun 10th, 2010

Sorry I skipped two weeks y’all. But in that time, no shockers. Kanye, Ross and Jeezy still the hardest shit out (honorable mention to Vado: slime, it’s your time!), Drake album has its moments inbetween interminable amounts of r&b self-loathing, Eminem “comeback” LP 100% unlistenable – and I’m not trying to hear it about the production credits, I love Just and Khalil’s shit too but even the better tracks could have been Game album cuts if Jayceon was all AY CUZ AY MAKE THIS LIKE METALLICA UNFORGIVEN WITH TOO MUCH ORGAN AND WE WILL ROCK YOU DRUMS but thats a rant for another time. And ultimately a moot point, good beat + bad songwriting = bad music no matter how you attempt to justify otherwise. EXHALE. But why focus on the big dogs, here’s some joints you may have missed. Fool's Gold CMJ Wrap-Up

Posted on Nov 3rd, 2009

We threw two parties in NYC to celebrate the label’s 2nd anniversary during this past CMJ fest – if you missed em, you missed out! Fortunately, we scoured the interweb to collect all the photo galleries, etc (hit us up if you have any more).

Check out Karmaloop’s great recap of Night #1 at 88 Palace above, which featured sets by Kingdom, Donnis (joined onstage by fellow ATLien Pill), Treasure Fingers, Sammy Bananas (who even rocked some Telephoned tracks with partner Maggie Horn), Trackademicks and the Honor Roll crew, and – a first for FG! – live band performances by Vega and The Suzan. Hi-Fi Cartel, Metromix, and The Culture Of Me got some pics, Billboard spoke to A-Trak for a video interview, and Beatcakes had a nice little blog post highlighting The Suzan (“probably one of the best shows I have seen in my life”).

For Night #2 we went with an all-DJ lineup at N8 in Brooklyn, featuring Jokers Of The Scene, LA Riots, Nacho Lovers and extended fam Udachi + Jubilee (Jamie from the xx was slated to play as well, but his band’s set ran late – we’ll get him in the mix soon enough!). You can check pics over at Driven By Boredom. Special thanks to Chicago’s own Thunder Horse for providing live projections / bugged visuals for both nights of festivities! See you for the 3-year bash soon…

Donnis Mixtape Release Vid

Posted on Aug 28th, 2009

Here’s some footage (shot by our dude Red Foxxworth no less) of Donnis’ mixtape release party under the Brooklyn Bridge. You had to have been there to feel the sweaty good vibes, but this gives you a little idea (plus Kid Sis + Nick Catchdubs check in with some cameo shouts). And if you haven’t grabbed Diary Of An ATL Brave yet… STOP SLEEPING! After the jump, check Donnis and Pill freestyling over “My Patna Dem” at East Village Radio. Read More

Track Radio

Posted on Mar 9th, 2009

This Friday on The FADER’s “The Let Out” on East Village Radio, they had ATLien and Killer Mike associate Pill by to kick some rhymes, and whaddayaknow, one of the tracks he goes over just happens to be Trackademicks’ “Topsidin” instrumental from the “Enjoy What You Do / Topsidin” single (available here and everywhere else digital music is sold, vinyl on its way!) Sure, it’s a “freestyle” in the most literal sense, but as always it’s cool to hear other rappers on our stuff.

Elsewhere on the internet airwaves, you can listen to this extensive Trackademicks interview with Streets Is Talking Radio right here. “In the words of Mac Mall, this interview is full of ‘Nathan But Game,'” says Track. Grab it!
