You already know Brooklyn-based Pomp&Clout (aka Ryan Staake) thanks to inventive music videos for the likes of The Suzan and Congorock. What you might not know, however, is that P&C has been curating a pretty awesome collection of DJ mixes as well.
Nick Catchdubs is the latest to contribute to the series, which offers selectors an opportunity to explore different musical styles beyond what they are typically known for. He put together this rap-centric “Catchy Bashment” dancehall mix. “People have really been pushing techno car alarm vibes in di dance lately – which is fine when done right, but I only need one Major Lazer, not thirty Minor ones. Crazy shit happens at lower BPMs too. Bugged out, thugged out, plain old smoked out – here’s my digital dancehall rap tape, I hope you enjoy it.”
Now streaming on Vimeo! The Pomp&Clout directed clip is also available for purchase on iTunes (as part of the previously mentioned Scion A/V video collab series), stay tuned for the full Congorock “Babylon” single coming soon.
Earth! Water! Fire! It’s not Battle Beasts, but the mysterious video for Congorock’s new track “Babylon,” which debuts today as part of Scion A/V’s inaugural video series, available now on iTunes and up for streaming on the SA/V site (and everywhere else great on the web) in early January.
“Babylon” is directed by Pomp&Clout and is rather awesome, if we do say so ourselves. Get ready for more from Congorock and the official single release very soon! Watch clips and info on the other videos in the SA/V series (including DFA, Southern Lord, Vice and more) here.
