New Fool's Gold 12"s from Four Color Zack & Pretty Titty and Sammy Bananas!

The latest party-starters from our label were unveiled to the world this week in the form of Four Color Zack & Pretty Titty’s Sing Sing Breaks and Sammy Bananas’ Braids & Fades.

FCZ x PT’s single (named after the raucous Sing Sing party they created in Seattle) reinvents the party record for the skinny jeans/big sneaker generation with a collection of gloriously stoopid Jock Jam riffs, gigantic drum fills, and looped-up chants, all with DJ-friendly extended intros and accapella outros for mixing. Sammy’s EP is the follow-up to last year’s High Top Fades, upping the ante conceptually (every track is a cleverly reworked tribute to a different 90s female r&b anthem, hence the Braids & Fades title) while showing off Sammy’s rapid growth as a producer. His sound is more funky than fidget, ditching trendy production tricks to craft a genuinely refreshing take on club music that’s pure pop satisfaction! Turntable Lab has you covered:

Certified Bananas Back in BK

After too long, Certified Max and I will be throwing down like Bobby Flay this Saturday in Brooklyn. I think the last time we DJed together in New York was at The Rub last year, so you know this is special. The night is also doubling as the OFFICIAL Mad Fool’s Pre-Party (special guests???) to get you oiled for the Emeril-sized Central Park show on Sunday. BAM! Also, I figured I would extract THIS from its hiding place in my massive Summer of Sammy wrap-up post so that everyone can cop this Cert Bs classic.

Summer 'O Sammy Tour Diary

I’m done with the tour! I decided to wait until the end to provide the wrap-up, but hopefully people will actually read this, because its kind of long! I’ll give a brief digest to start out so you know what your getting into:

– Summer of Sammy Tour = Serial Massacre i.e. Raging Success
– Cameos from Ayres, Alan and Eh’Life
– Run ins with border patrols, bikes and BEPs
– Triumphs of Celtics, Cesars and Cruisers
– Chilling with Diamonds, Daniels and Debonairs
– A mix classic gets re-released, this time for free

I’m gonna start off by saying that the main (if only) reason that I’m writing this blog is so that Certified Max can read it. I’m gonna lay this bro-love right out there in the open; Max and I have had some amazing times DJing around North America and I thought of him on innumerable occasions on this run. Hopefully at least he will read the whole thing!

The Summer Solstice may be 10 days away, but as it was 99 degrees in NYC today I think we can safely say that the season has officially jumped off. And what better way to celebrate the start of summer than with…BANANAS! I’ll be traveling around over the next two weeks killing dancehalls in Vancouver, SF, LA, Chi and Milwaukee, and I made a mix for this Summer of Sammy tour.
