Head over to RCRD LBL (or hit the widget below) for the latest installment of Track’s fan-favorite series of “remixtapes” – a combination of his own official remixes for artists from Chromeo to Kid Cudi to Zero 7, alongside unofficial flips of Wale, Kenna and more – most of which feature brand new raps from Track and the rest of his Honor Roll crew.
One of the highlights is “Prime Factors” (which makes it’s debut here), a half time hip hop jam based around the rave piano breakdown from Jokers Of The Scene’s “Baggy Bottom Boys.” And DJ Tap.10 is on the cuts as always!
Cop a physical copy on 4/15, release party details coming soon…
It’s that time of year again… we’re bringing the whole gang down to Austin for SXSW festivities. Suited and booted!
First up is our inaugural “Texas Takeover” party on Thursday, 3/18 at Republic Live, featuring Travis x A-Trak, Donnis, Treasure Fingers, Congorock, Kingdom and Sammy Bananas. Get advance tickets here.
Then the following night (Friday 3/19) at Malverde we go even bigger with our official SXSW showcase, featuring Vega, Kid Sister w/ Flosstradamus, Telephoned, Jokers Of The Scene, Trackademicks, The Suzan, Nick Catchdubs, Malente, our extended fam Theophilus London, and… surprise guests? You’ll just have to come thru and see, free entry with SXSW badge (get there early – this will fill up!)
Full size flyers after the jump, more news on our artists’ full festival schedules soon! Read More
We’re ending the year with a treat for all our fam, friends and supporters this year – not one but TWO new Foolcasts, featuring live sets by Max Glazer, The Brothers Macklovitch, and Just Blaze (playing house!) recorded at the FG x LTD Holiday Party in NYC.
Two ways to get em: subscribe to the Foolcast via iTunes or your favorite RSS reader at the main Foolcast page, where you can also download the mixes directly (grab the Max Glazer and Macklobros sets here, and the JB set here).
For more from the blizard-busting festivities (where Nick Catchdubs also played and Trackademicks was on the mic hosting) check out these great photo galleries from Village Slum (Part 1 & 2) and Hi Fi Cartel. See you in 2010!
Check Kid Sis at the Red Bull Soundclash at the Vanguard in LA tonight – we’re not sure exactly what the clash entails (apparently some Trackademicks beats are involved, and Them Jeans will be manning the decks as well) but it’s sure to be a fun night out. Go there!
Head over to the Honor Roll blog to download 1-O.A.K.’s excellent cover of The Cure’s “Lovecats,” which was produced by Trackademicks and has become a staple of the crew’s live sets over the past few months.
Check out this bonus beat from the Ultraviolet sessions, “Down Azz Jawn” produced by Trackademicks. It’s a welcome throwback to 90s thug love RnB. For everyone who’s ever dated someone on house arrest! It’s the inaugural song kicking off RCRD LBL’s new “RCRD OF THE DAY” promotion with MySpace. So download and enjoy!
Check out Trackademicks guesting in this new vid from his Bay brethren Amp Live. In other Honor Roll news, Spank Pops’ Beautiful Noise EP just dropped this week (preview it over at 2dopeboyz) and Mike Baker’sNow Or Never EP got some props from OkayPlayer.
We threw two parties in NYC to celebrate the label’s 2nd anniversary during this past CMJ fest – if you missed em, you missed out! Fortunately, we scoured the interweb to collect all the photo galleries, etc (hit us up if you have any more).
Check out Karmaloop’s great recap of Night #1 at 88 Palace above, which featured sets by Kingdom, Donnis (joined onstage by fellow ATLien Pill), Treasure Fingers, Sammy Bananas (who even rocked some Telephoned tracks with partner Maggie Horn), Trackademicks and the Honor Roll crew, and – a first for FG! – live band performances by Vega and The Suzan. Hi-Fi Cartel, Metromix, and The Culture Of Me got some pics, Billboard spoke to A-Trak for a video interview, and Beatcakes had a nice little blog post highlighting The Suzan (“probably one of the best shows I have seen in my life”).
For Night #2 we went with an all-DJ lineup at N8 in Brooklyn, featuring Jokers Of The Scene, LA Riots, Nacho Lovers and extended fam Udachi + Jubilee (Jamie from the xx was slated to play as well, but his band’s set ran late – we’ll get him in the mix soon enough!). You can check pics over at Driven By Boredom. Special thanks to Chicago’s own Thunder Horse for providing live projections / bugged visuals for both nights of festivities! See you for the 3-year bash soon…
