Food Gold: Dressings for Impressin'
Posted on Oct 6th, 2010 in Food Gold by Mr. Goldbar
I’ve received a lot of requests for condiment/fixings recipes lately so for this week’s Food Gold we are going to show you how to whip up some uber flavorful and versatile dressings/dipping sauces. The first is a spicy/sweet/creamy honey mustard sauce (perfect for chicken fingers I see u Catchdubs) while the second, a chili/lime jump off, is more on the Asian tip and can be used for salads, spring rolls and even marinating fish or shrimp. Recipes and eat knowledge after the jump!
Classic Honey Mustard Dresssin’
1 1/2 tablespoon mayo
1/2 cup plain yogurt (or sub 1/4 cup additional mayo)
2 or so teaspoons honey
2 or so teaspoons sharp, spicy Dijon mustard like Maille
1 1/2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice or red wine vinegar
Splash of vegetable oil if you like
Salt/Pepper to taste
Recipe:
To create dressing, mix yogurt and mayo in small bowl, add mustard and honey and then finally add lemon juice or acidic component. Season with salt and pepper, mix well, refrigerate and serve after flavors have had chance to make out a little bit.
Asian Vibes-ish Chili Lime Dressing
2 limes, juiced and zested
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil or chili-infused oil if you have it
1 tablespoon brown sugar
some minced garlic, approx 3/4 teaspoon
some minced ginger, approx 3/4 teaspoon
dash of chili powde, approx 1/2 teaspoon
dash or two of sriracha (chili sauce) if you like *recommended
Recipe:
In small bowl, whisk lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar and chili sauce powder/sauce. Add minced garlic or ginger. In steady stream whisk in vegetable oil and whisk until dressing is emulsified (combined.) Check for seasoning. Boom, you are donezo!
