A-Trak – 10 Seconds Vol 1

Posted on Mar 30th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

At the height of the Covid-19 lockdown, A-Trak had a musical epiphany. Stuck at home experimenting, he remembered he had a broken E-Mu SP1200 in storage that he’d been meaning to fix for over 10 years. The mythical drum machine with a gritty 12-bit sound was the weapon of choice for so many of the producers who shaped A-Trak’s ear: from Pete Rock to Madlib, from DJ Muggs to Kenny Dope, from Todd Terry to Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon. After a chance repair job, Trizzy taught himself how to use the rare SP, chopped up everything in sight and quickly churned out the rawest house beats he’s ever made. The result is a two-part EP of uptempo head-nodders, stripped down and named after the notoriously short sample time of his new toy. Best served dirty and loud. Listen now!

Saturday Love – 2 B Free

Posted on Mar 24th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

From the opening piano notes, it’s clear that “2 B Free” is a soul purifying disco jam that would have felt right at home on Larry Levan’s turntables 40 years ago. It feels familiar, but is still strikingly fresh. Saturday Love is a new project uniting the Boston veteran DJ and producer Kon (behind The Vision’s instant classic “Heaven”) with rising NYC vocalist Fiorious (“I’m Not Defeated” / “Music Saved My Life”), whose soaring falsetto carries this song to new heights. The hair on your back will reach those same heights too, so keep hands firmly on your hips and let the percussion guide you to freedom. Listen now!
