Dust La Rock "Joking Victim" Exhibit Online

Posted on Apr 21st, 2011

Last weekend the fam trekked out to California for the opening of Dust La Rock’s “Joking Victim” at LA’s HVW8 Gallery, featuring music by Jokers Of The Scene and multimedia collaborations with JK5, Kareem Black, Angela Boatwright and Bruce LaBruce. You can now check out photos from the opening and the entire exhibition at the HVW8 website, as well as purchase prints from the show at the gallery store.

There you’ll also find the limited edition 7-inch single of JOTS “Joking Victim,” featuring an ambient “Laughter Death” mix of their show-inspiring title track, as well as Vin Sol’s darkly groovy “Trocadero Mix,” both making their wax debut. There’s only 100 signed and numbered copies of this bad boy, so grab it while you can! The “Laughter Death” mix also scores one of the pieces in the show, a video collaboration between Dust La Rock and Kareem Black, which you can check after the jump.

(Attention LA zombies: you can still check the show in person until May 8th!)

Dust La Rock "B.K. Scum" Exhibit Opens 3/4

Posted on Feb 23rd, 2011

Dust La Rock has shaped the visual identity of Fool’s Gold and our family of artists from the very beginning. And if you’ve been paying attention, you know his own musical tastes and personal interests are quite varied and esoteric – so it’s only natural that for his latest project, Dust has tapped into his fascination with the work of experimental sound collective and multimedia pioneers Psychic TV to create an exhibition of new works entitled B.K. Scum. Read More

The sightings and tweets are official: Dust La Rock is out in LA this weekend for the opening of Installation 6 at the Scion Space, where they “challenged 10 artists to create non-narrative video installations that will eventually transform five unique exhibitions around the country.” Dusty’s animated short “Occult Of Personality” is featured in the project, and is pretty killer if we do say so ourselves.

The opening reception is tonight (1/23) and Dust and all the other artists will be in attendance – go and check it out before it moves on to future locations in Austin, Wichita, Minneapolis and Brooklyn. Read More

Dust La Rock's "Best Of The Beast" Calgary Exhibit

Posted on Oct 19th, 2009

Just because we’re celebrating our 2nd birthday at CMJ in NYC this week doesn’t mean the rest of the globe has to feel left out! Namely Calgary, where the Giant 45 crew will be presenting the last public exhibition of Dust La Rock’s Best Of The Beast art show (all prints, no canvas).

It kicks off with an opening at the store on Wednesday, followed by a party at Hi-Fi Club on Thursday featuring our homies Smalltown DJs and Wax Romeo – it’s the ten year anniversary of their Hai Karate night (which has hosted many a FG artist through the years) so it’s sure to be a blow out! Stay tuned for more DLR art news very soon…
