All summer Jelly NYC has been throwing their free Pool Parties down at East River Park in Williamsburg. On Sunday, August 22nd we’re proud to present an all-FG takeover, which we’re proudly dubbing Pool’s Gold, because, well, why the hell not?
Get their early to stake your claim in front of the stage for the supa sounds of Chromeo, Kid Sister, The Suzan and Telephoned, with deejay sets by Treasure Fingers and Kingdom keeping it moving all day long. Then we head over to Brooklyn Bowl for an afterparty with Nick Catchdubs and Vin Sol on beat duties. See you there!
Our gregarious dubsteppin bud 12th Planet wants to give readers of the Fool’s Gold blog some free tickets to his show this Friday in Los Angeles with Kingdom, Squeak E Clean of NASA and more. Our man Kingdom, he of the new EP and eternally fresh fade, has a new mix up for FACT Magazine that you can download here. New originals, remixes, refixes, Remy Ma! It’s a scorcher. Following his debut single “Mind Reader” on Fool’s Gold, Kingdom returns with a deep and inventive new EP for his Night Slugs crew in London. Grab That Mystic on Beatport, Juno, iTunes and everywhere else digital music is sold.
For the inaugural edition of Scion A/V’s music video series, Fool’s Gold represented with Congorock’s “Babylon.”. Their newest batch of videos hits iTunes next week, featuring a brand-new clip for Kingdom’s “Mind Reader,” directed by Kari Altmann (aka blackmoth.org).
Kingdom and Kari have worked together on numerous live visuals and other graphic projects in the past, so it was only natural that they would come together to forge an impressionistic world for “Mind Reader.” The fractured visuals of their collaboration turn nightclub flashes into a moody, mystic vortex, and provide a perfect counterpoint to the hyperkinetic synth riffs and soaring diva vocals of Shyvonne.
“Mind Reader” will also be airing on MTV2, starting with a premier July 8th at 8pm EST. To preview the other Scion A/V videos in the series, check this trailer. And of course, pick up Kingdom’s “Mind Reader” single on alldigitaloutlets and vinyl 12″!
Feenin like Jodeci for new Kingdom? We’ve got a treat for you in the form of “Pathfinder,” an unreleased jam making it’s debut on Rob Wonder’s No Static At All EP on Scion A/V. Go download it here, alongside fresh tunes from Klever, Bok Bok, Kastle and other gents.
For even more music, you can also hit the Scion A/V site to stream Kingdom’s guest set on Blu Jemz’ Turntable Lab radio show.
