Fool's Gold Compilation LP Out 10/25!

Posted on Oct 13th, 2010

As you may have seen on Pitchfork today, our first-ever compilation LP, Fool’s Gold Vol 1 is making its way to you fine people of planet Earth on October 25th (same day as The Suzan LP – they both got bumped to Monday cause of Taylor Swift. Good looking out ma!)

The 14 new tracks on Fool’s Gold Vol 1 are a 3-D look at where FG has been and where we’re going next. “Ray Ban Vision,” A-Trak’s robot-rocking collab with G.O.O.D. Music upstart CyHi Da Prynce, sits comfortably next to Treasure Fingers’ joyous dance pop throwback “Keep Up” and The Suzan’s rollicking cover of Miike Snow’s “Animal,” along with new tracks from other exciting, constantly-evolving talents like Kingdom, Flosstradamus, and even Lil B, who teases his forthcoming EP with the #based bass of “Freeze.”

You will be able to download Vol 1 from all fine music retailers, as well as purchase a limited-edition CD copy (and other FG treats) at Opening Ceremony boutiques worldwide. We are immensely proud to share these new tracks from our family with all of you!

Flashing Lights 2 Year Anniversary with Nacho Lovers + More

Posted on Oct 7th, 2010

Flashing Lights, the monthly dance party thrown by FG’s Nick Catchdubs, DJ Ayres and Jubilee, turns two this Friday (10/8) at Public Assembly in Brooklyn. FL has hosted many Fool’s Gold guests over the past two years, and this one is no exception: Nacho Lovers will be crossing the border to house up the birthday vibes, joined by fellow Torontonian Grahmzilla, who will be tag-teaming with Jubilee as part of their group, Bassanovva. The two have put together a mix of originals, remixes and other fresh tracks to get you excited for the party, including the Nacho Lovers remix of forthcoming Bassanovva single “Terrordactyl” on Sinden’s Grizzly imprint. It’s a family affair!

For more music, check all the old Flashing Lights mixes on Soundcloud.

Stones Throw x Fool's Gold Discotheque

Posted on Jul 26th, 2010

This year during Coachella, we got together with our friends from Stones Throw for one fine evening of “disco, boogie and house music” (as the hand-drawn flyer advertised) from Peanut Butter Wolf, The Brothers Macklovitch (A-Trak and Dave1), Mayer Hawthorne, Jokers Of The Scene, James Pants, and Chris Bag Raiders. Aloe Blacc was on mic duties throughout the evening, and, as you can see from the video highlight reel, a groovy time was had by all!

The night went so well, in fact, that we decided to base a whole tour around it: the Stones Throw x Fool’s Gold Discotheque, featuring Peanut Butter Wolf, A-Trak, J Rocc and Nacho Lovers (alongside DJ sets from some very special guests: Treasure Fingers, Holy Ghost!, Mayer Hawthorne and more) kicking off in Chicago with a Lollapalooza afterparty on August 6th and then traveling to San Francisco, Portland, and wrapping up with a very special boat party in Vancouver. Check the lineups and details after the jump! Read More
