Absolut and Mixcloud recently joined forces for their “Absolut Mixes” series of new music, and tapped our own Catchdini to provide the debut set. Stream it below and peep the tracklist (chock full of rap remixes, uptempo clubbers and lotsa new FG cuts) after the jump.
Fool’s Gold fam Flosstradamus and Troyboi teamed up for “Soundclash,” an uber-banger collab track that quickly became a fan favorite via live recordings and set rips. You can now get the official version on iTunes, Beatport and everywhere else fine music is sold. After that, catch up on Flossy FG classics like “Rollup” and Crowd CTRL, and top it off with Troyboi’s take on Danny Brown’s “Smokin & Drinkin” for maximum Monday morning turnup.
Eddie Huang is a lot of things: chef, author, host, raconteur, and (of course!) FG fam. So it’s only natural that he enlisted Danny Brown to record the theme song to his new ABC show Fresh Off The Boat, which premiered last night on ABC. Listen to the Skywlkr-produced track in full now, and tune in to FOTB every Tuesday at 8pm.
The first Fool’s Gold hip‐hop release of 2015 is the uber‐melodic debut from Toledo, Ohio newcomer tshawntrusst. On “I’m That Nigga,” the MC drops confident, R&B‐inspired flows over a futuristic, neck‐snapping beat from Chris McClenney (Soulection) x Rvdical The Kid. In three short minutes, tshawntrusst throws down the gauntlet as one of the new year’s most exciting new voices and continues Fool’s Gold’s streak of auspicious rap debuts from Kid Cudi to Danny Brown and beyond. Get it now on iTunes!
Sweet Valley is Nathan Williams (Wavves) and his brother Kynan, two bongwater-soaked beat geniuses making rap instrumentals that feel like melted PlayStation games. MNDR is a one-of-a-kind artist and songwriter versed in Britney and breakcore in equal measure. Put them all together with producer Peter Wade and Dance 4 A Dollar is the result, a darkly catchy Cali masterpiece. SV chop up strip club 808s and woozy synths like they’re reclaiming trip hop for the DJ Mustard era, while MNDR explores the underbelly of radio songcraft, finding the creepiness inside champagne anthems and and coating tales of teenage nihilists with Rihanna-worthy ear candy. Decay never sounded so sweet… preorder the EP on iTunes now and get an instant download of the title track, premiered today on Pitchfork.
The new Rick Owens Men’s RTW collection made a lot of noise in Paris this week for it’s full frontal fashion. And the soundtrack was just as ballsy, courtesy of none other than FG’s own Bames, who were enlisted by Rick to create custom extended mixes of their DRTY BWTY tracks “Sippin” and “Posted” for the catwalk. Check it out on Bames’ Soundcloud, grab DRTY BWTY on iTunes, and stay tuned for their new EP coming this Spring on Fool’s Gold!
A-Trak and Diplo are brothers from another. Peep this Infinite Legroom interview for a look at the early days of their friendship, then go listen to Trizzy’s uncut Diplo & Friends mix from BBC Radio 1 Xtra on Soundcloud.
Brenmar is the club. This bass music chameleon has soundtracked some of the best nights of our lives with sets that expertly travel from Jersey to Chicago and beyond, connecting the dots between hip-hop, R&B and all manner of futuristic house music production. His aptly titled Award EP (out 1/20 on Fool’s Gold) is more than a victory lap for a nightlife champion, but the start of an awesome new chapter, melding songwriting chops atop years of body-moving DJ knowledge. From 808 slow jams to confetti-ready anthems, Award is a four-track collection of earworms featuring voices from the underground (Newark’s Dougie F and UNiiQU3) and radio (Jeremih collaborator Sayyi) alike.
Listen to the title track (premiered today by Paper alongside a Brenmar Q&A) for a taste of the EP, which you can also pre-order now on iTunes. Hear Brenmar live in his element on the Award tour kicking off 1/21 in Chicago and blasting around the globe through February, full dates after the jump.
Los Ghosts make their Clubhouse debut with the gleefully deep “Musique,” get it now on iTunes and bop bop bop as only a true spook can…
