A-Trak – 10 Seconds Remixes

Posted on Dec 9th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Though he hung up his fedora long ago, A-Trak is a man of many hats. Earlier this year, he surprised the whole DJ community by dropping 2 EPs entirely produced on the mythical SP1200 drum machine. It even earned him a glowing review in the New Yorker. Some of his DJ friends volunteered to make remixes and club-friendly edits of the jams, that were intentionally rough around the edges. Amine Edge & DANCE, the globe-trotting Frenchmen, fine-tuned an edit of “Spit” that has been a mainstay in Skream and Jackmaster’s sets; and the legend Laidback Luke took “Cortez” into a Mongoloidz-meets-Roulé sound on his “1997” remix.   Listen now.

Thando1988 – Never Stop (ft. Chantay Savage) (Seamus Haji Remix)

Posted on Dec 7th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

New York DJ/producer Thando1988 was raised on club classics, giving him an appreciation for 70s-80s soul beyond his years. On “Never Stop”, his second Fool’s Gold release, he teams up with 90s R&B legend Chantay Savage for an uplifting, timeless jam with soulful pianos and a soaring vocal performance.  On the remix, Thando1988 links with UK legend Seamus Haji, whose 2004 cover of “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” reached #1 on the UK Dance Chart. Listen as Seamus transforms the track with live brass, bass, and keys.  Listen now.

Fiorious & Austin Ato – Feel So High Remixes

Posted on Dec 2nd, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

“Feel So High” is the first collaboration between NYC vocalist, songwriter and visual artist Fiorious and rising UK producer Austin Ato. The original version — and beautiful, trippy video — captured the attention of club music luminaries, from The Blessed Madonna to Tiga to Annie Mac. The track’s pulsating, sexy electro groove gets juiced up on steroids on these remixes: Montreal’s techno bad boy Martyn Bootyspoon unleashes the wildest swinging drums of the year on his reinvention, while Austin Ato serves his own Raw Club Dub, kicking the energy up into dangerous territory..  Listen now.

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that South African producer, singer, songwriter, and DJ Muzi has joined the Fool’s Gold family. We were bumping his 2021 album Interblaktic all through the pandemic — an album that was praised for combining aspects of Afrofuturism alongside Afrobeats, hip-hop, kwaito, and 80s electronic music.

Muzi has received press in Spin, Forbes, Vice, and more. With four studio albums since his debut in 2016, Muzi continues to progress sonically with each album, combining his influences and creativity into cohesive projects that have captured the attention of some of the biggest artists in the world. Can’t wait to share his new Fool’s Gold output with the world.

Vincent, The Owl & Nick Catchdubs – Gutter

Posted on Nov 18th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Jersey City rap renegade Vincent, The Owl re-teams with Nick Catchdubs for the six-pack Gutter release. It’s more late-night misadventures from Vincent and his Operate With Liquor crew (plus a guest spot from underground icon Mr Muthafuckin eXquire), spreading the pure joys of verbal destruction and pop culture mischief over FG co-founder Catchdini’s wonky, head-knocking production.  Listen now.

Tony Romera – La Source

Posted on Nov 11th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Making a funky banger is a delicate task. Lean too hard on either side of those attributes and your deck of cards crumbles. French house producer Tony Romera has mastered that sweet spot, delivering bassline-heavy weapons for a solid 10 years. On La Source, his first Fool’s Gold release, the Lyon native rounds up 3 sure shots. “Tonight’s The Night” is an uplifting piano jam built around a soulful, yearning vocal. Veteran singer Tara McDonald graces the disco groove of “Saturday”. And the late-night energy of “OK” pulsates around a rich string loop. Another bullseye for Tony Romera.  Listen now.

Fiorious & Austin Ato – Feel So High

Posted on Oct 20th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

There’s a pulsating groove that oozes out of “Feel So High”, the first collaboration between rising UK producer Austin Ato and electrifying NYC vocalist Fiorious. It’s a house earworm that feels like Yazoo, Adonis, and Romanthony at a vogue ball. As Fiorious sings about a “chemical reaction,” it’s impossible not to be taken by the synth sirens and the inhale-exhale rhythm, as the sultry track hypnotizes anyone in sight.  Listen now.
