Tony Romera – La Source

Posted on Nov 11th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Making a funky banger is a delicate task. Lean too hard on either side of those attributes and your deck of cards crumbles. French house producer Tony Romera has mastered that sweet spot, delivering bassline-heavy weapons for a solid 10 years. On La Source, his first Fool’s Gold release, the Lyon native rounds up 3 sure shots. “Tonight’s The Night” is an uplifting piano jam built around a soulful, yearning vocal. Veteran singer Tara McDonald graces the disco groove of “Saturday”. And the late-night energy of “OK” pulsates around a rich string loop. Another bullseye for Tony Romera.  Listen now.

Fiorious & Austin Ato – Feel So High

Posted on Oct 20th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

There’s a pulsating groove that oozes out of “Feel So High”, the first collaboration between rising UK producer Austin Ato and electrifying NYC vocalist Fiorious. It’s a house earworm that feels like Yazoo, Adonis, and Romanthony at a vogue ball. As Fiorious sings about a “chemical reaction,” it’s impossible not to be taken by the synth sirens and the inhale-exhale rhythm, as the sultry track hypnotizes anyone in sight.  Listen now.

Amine Edge & DANCE, Prok & Fitch – Booze & Pills

Posted on Oct 7th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

This match-up of Southern France and Southern UK duos brings us a decidedly trippy electro number that stands out in today’s sea of cloned Tech House tracks. Originality is the name of the game on Booze & Pills, with a mischievous vocal taunting “I got the keys to the party house” over booming 808s. The sneaky track is sure to hypnotize crowds with a bouncy bassline and a sexy groove. Listen now.

A-Trak & Lee Foss – Free (feat. Uncle Chucc)

Posted on Sep 30th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

It started with a DJ blend. A-Trak was revisiting Goodie Mob’s classic first album Soul Food and was touched by Cee-Lo’s spiritual vocals on the intro. It sparked an idea: speeding them up and throwing them over a house beat. And just like that, “Free” was born. He later linked with 1500 Or Nothing member and Snoop collaborator Uncle Chucc to reinterpret the vocal, and enlisted Lee Foss to work on the earthy, percussive groove. Lee is already having a spectacular year, with his label Repopulate Mars hitting the top seller mark on Beatport.“Free” is a deeply moving song that reaches far beyond house music. It speaks to a basic human yearning for decency and unity, a raw feeling that anyone can get behind. Listen now.

Duck Sauce – aNYway (Low Steppa Remix)

Posted on Aug 26th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Thirteen years after its release, Duck Sauce’s first single “aNYway” still feels as fresh as ever. The feeling is undeniable, one that reaches deep into your soul and uplifts you. It’s the song that launched A-Trak and Armand Van Helden’s celebrated collaborative project, one that is still kicking strong in 2022 with the Ducks performing to massive crowds at Coachella and Tomorrowland. Remixing such an anthem isn’t an easy task, but the UK’s Low Steppa nailed it, keeping just enough of the original elements and updating the stomping groove. Listen now.

Palmistry – wyrdo remixes

Posted on Jul 19th, 2022 in Releases by Mr. Goldbar

Last August, Irish-born, London-based singer and producer Palmistry released wyrdo as his debut Fool’s Gold LP, receiving praise from outlets like Stereogum, DIY Magazine, Dazed, and more. “It’s all terribly lovely and reassuring, and it sounds like nothing else,” said Stereogum’s Tom Breihan. Nearly a year later, Palmistry enlists a robust cast of producers to create a remix EP of some wyrdo’s standout tracks. The first remix and single, “fk a deal (Nikki Nair Remix),” is produced by DJ Mag’s 2022 Breakthrough Producer winner, Nikki Nair, who transforms the track into a bass heavy, breakbeat anthem that is already electrifying crowds. Also on the EP is West Philadelphia producer Matthew Law; Fool’s Gold family High Klassified and Chris Crack; and Palmistry’s close friend, UK-based producer, Kamixlo. From hip-hop to bass, there’s a remix for everyone. Listen now.
