Whether you wanna call it WMC, Ultra or Miami Music Week… you know how Fool’s Gold duz it! For the third year running we were back at Grand Central, with the whole fam making you dance. Check out “DJ Canada” rocking alongside Jacques Lu Cont, Just Blaze, Congorock, Treasure Fingers, Style Of Eye, LA Riots, Flosstradamus, Jokers Of The Scene, Nick Catchdubs, Fifteenth and surprise guests Annie Mac and Vega (not to mention the Peachfuzz crew keeping it live upstairs with Craze, DJ Soul and other guests). Musics!
A few weeks ago we ran through Austin for two mega parties during SXSW: a label showcase at the brand new Beauty Ballroom, and a team-up Super Party with Mad Decent and Check Yo Ponytail that took over BB as well as the giant Emo’s East down the street. Suffice it to say… shit got live!
From A$AP (and Sammy Bananas!) stagedives to A-Trak’s big-room scratchery, these were parties none of us will forget. Check out our recap video of both nights above, along with photos from our in-house shutterbug Josh Wehle (as well as a CYP’s full cinema-style featurette on Super Party) after the jump. Read More
Telephoned is DJ/producer Sammy Bananas and singer Maggie Horn, a dynamic duo specializing in unique covers, unexpected pop jams and general good times. Switchboard sees the group turning that vibe into a monthly NYC party with remix and remake-heavy sets from their friends and fam (and themselves, of course), featuring everything from The Suzan gleefully bashing away on a Miike Snow song to Nick Catchdubs dropping a set of ’80s-jacking Bad Boy hits.
You don’t want to miss out this Tuesday (April 17th), when Telephoned celebrates the party’s one year anniversary at Drom on Avenue A. They’ll be performing alongside Mattie Safer and Party Supplies, while Nick Catchdubs, Autobot of Flosstradamus, DJ Wonder and Musa throw down DJ sets. The night is also a fundraiser for CCFA, an Crohns and colitis research organization that Maggie will be running a half marathon for this summer (more information and links to donate here). Good tunes, good cause… we’ll see you there! Check the full flyer after the jump. Read More
During his main stage Coachella performance this weekend, Childish Gambino brought out tourmate Danny Brown and fellow festival performer Kendrick Lamar to do their remix of his track “You Don’t Know Me,” check it out. Hit the events page for more Danny / Gambino dates near you.
It’s that time of year again… we’re throwing a daytime bash for all the party people headed to Palm Springs this weekend for Coachella. It’s going down this Sunday, April 15th as part of the Hard Rock Hotel’s Music Mansion. Update: added some big gunz to the lineup in the form of Flying Lotus and Oliver, who’ll be joining Daniel LeDisko, Nick Hook of Cubic Zirconia, (Thee) Mike B and a special tag team DJ set from label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs. Woah!
Now here’s some rappin ass raps! Danny Brown joins his Black Hippy bro Ab-Soul on this moody new joint, with the lovely Jhne Aiko on the intro to boot! This one is a must listen, download it here and check Danny tonight in NYC for the XXL Freshman Concert at Best Buy Theatre. Read More
Check out this new version of Telephoned’s “The Vow” (the original version is on their Ring Ring EP, out now) where, in true Telephoned fashion, producer Sammy Bananas remakes his own track, turning the funky house-inspired OG into a half time, trippy R&B version.
It’s perfect timing for Telephoned’s NYC show at Webster Hall Studio this Thursday (4/5) with Skeet Skeet and DWNTWN. While you’re marking your calendars, be sure to save Tuesday, 4/17 for the Switchboard 1 Year Anniversary going down at Drom. More info soon…
This weekend, our friends from Sound Pellegrino kick off their inaugural Sound Pellegrino Festival in Paris. Check out the full list of events here, kicking off off Thursday with the launch of their L’Annuel mag and culminating with a Sunday night show featuring A-Trak, Crookers and more heavy hitters. Teki has even put together a guide to his favorite restaurants in the area. Don’t miss it…
If you saw Flosstradamus put it down at the Fool’s Gold parties in Austin and Miami this month, you already know one of the highlights of their set is a hyperactive double time edit of Ludacris’ “What’s Your Fantasy.” The guys have liberated it on their Soundcloud today, go download it!
