Check out the newly released Jersey Shore soundtrack album for Kid Sister’s “Lookout Weekend,” a cover of Debbie Deb’s freestyle classic produced by Nadastrom and guest-starring Nina Sky. The album also contains fist pumpers from our friends Diplo, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and… well it’s hard to concentrate when it takes soooo much self control not to flip this with Kid Sis, the Nadastroms and the NS twins into the most epic Photoshop face swap of all time. Dream big!
Bonus beat: check Nadastrom’s new Mixpak podcast for more Fool’s Gold action, including a clever Congorock edit and a preview of Dave Nada’s forthcoming LA Riots remix.
Freddie Gibbs (of XXL Freshmen fame, amongst other accolades) recently dropped his first official 12″ single for the tune “Playa,” and it comes backed with a remix by our own Trackademicks. Grab it on vinyl and digital at the Stones Throw webstore. Want more Track x Gibbs? Well you’re just gonna have to stay tuned then…
Kid Sis, Paul Wall, and Bun B make for one of the more unlikely team-ups in rap, but they all come together (and rip it!) on “Im’ma Get It,” a Travis Barker-produced cut off Paul’s new LP, Heart Of A Champion, out today. One for your trunk!
If you missed the festival debut of Duck Sauce (featuring A-Trak, Armand Van Helden, and…an enormous inflatable duck) at EDC, fret not: Trizzy has you covered with this great video recap and pics from the night, along with some shots from his Travis x A-Trak performance at the same fest.
For more DS action, you can finally grab their perennial summer jam “aNYway” in North America:
Electrodiscomaniacs, rejoice! Alexander Robotnick’s new Analog Sessions LP is out this week, courtesy of our pals at This Is Music. If you dug his synthjam YouTube’s we posted (like the one above), this one’s for you: a return to 70s gear (Oberheim Biphonic, Roland TB303, Korg Stage Echo) recorded live over two days and edited down into album format. Download the club mix of “Fun Fare” at Fact Magazine for a taste, and look for the LP at a shop near you (Amazon.co.uk is shipping the CD+DVD combo later in the month).
If that’s not enough Robotnick for you (and of course it isn’t!) grab his Fool’s Gold single “Obsession For The Disco Freaks” on Beatport, iTunes and vinyl, backed by great remixes from Nacho Lovers, Li’ll Bo Tweak and Freeform Five.
Carte Blanche = DJ Mehdi + Riton innna house music stylee. We’ve mentionedthem on these blog pages before and now you can buy their Black Billionaires EP on Beatport, iTunes, and all other digital retailers.
All the songs are reliably knocking, but Kid Sister collab “Do! Do! Do!” is the sureshot. (Duh!) Preview that and more on this Carte Blanche “House Party Mix.”
As you may have seen on the internets, we got together with Celebriducks to manufacture a limited batch of actual rubber ducks featuring the Dust La Rock-designed Duck Sauce mascot. They are finally hitting stores: buy now at Turntable Lab, and look out for our plastic feathered friends at Colette in Paris and Kid Robot locations worldwide as well.
In other “things you can buy” news, TTL is also selling fabulous 12″ vinyl for Count + Sinden’s “Mega” (with Jokers Of The Scene and Harvard Bass remixes) and Bag Raiders’ Big Fun EP, featuring Donnis on “All The Girls” and JOTS and XXXChange remixes of “Fun Punch.” Look out for these singles everywhere fine wax is sold as well!
After getting people hyped with the music video, and a packed month of “More Fire” tour dates, it’s only right that Congorock’s “Babylon” finally sees official release. The single features a massive vocal version with dancehall don Mr Lexx (the voice behind Major Lazer’s “Hold The Line” and many more lighter-flickers), the instrumental dub you already know and love from the video, and a “Lexxapella” for the DJs to play with. Big!
Grab it next week on Beatport, and all other services shortly there after. Vinyl on its way too, with some huge remixes… oh you thought we forgot about those? Hell naw! If that’s not enough, you can grab these none-more-black Congorock logo tees at our webstore, featuring the new metal logo from the “Babylon” sleeve above, designed by Dust La Rock ov cvrse!
