Damn! It’s been almost three years since Dave Nada dropped the first ever moombahton DJ mix on this here blog, and it has been awesome seeing our friend (and his friends) take the sound to so many crazy places ever since. Dave and co are back with the new Moombahton Forever compilation on T&A, featuring new Nadastrom x Gent & Jawns track “Snake Juice” (which shut it DOWN at the Electric Zoo Clubhouse) alongside fresh cuts from our buds GTA, Craze, Tittsworth, Ayres and more. Download it for free here, cop the WAVs on Beatport, and bug out to Craze’s wild DJ megamix below.
The hometown edition of our series of festival stages went down at Electric Zoo on Friday, 8/31 and was another one for the books! Bodies were moved by A-Trak (with Donnis on guest MC duties – and a full on 3D interlude!), Tommy Trash, Dillon Francis, Nadastrom, Gesaffelstein, Araabmuzik, Treasure Fingers, Nick Catchdubs and special guests Jack Beats. Watch the recap vid and check some photos after the jump (more shots on our Facebook). Read More
Who better to write the book on fun than Kid Sister? The Kiss & Tell EP offers four of Kid Sister’s latest jams with a diverse crew of collaborators. “Mickey” is a club workout from DJ innovators Nadastrom (who just helped pilot Skrillex’s sold-out Mothership tour), while “Hide N Seek” pairs Kid Sis with rap absurdist Riff Raff and bass maestros Sinden & 5kin&Bone5. Hip-hop hero Scoop Deville (Snoop, Game, Fat Joe) mans the boards for “Cliq Claq” (as featured in Stella McCartney’s recent runway shows) as well as a brand-new remix of KS mixtape favorite “Gucci Rag Top,” now featuring a guest verse from fellow Fool’s Gold spitter Danny Brown.
Still, it’s Kid Sister’s inimitable personality on and off the mic that brings these team-ups to life with swaggering verses and clever, lipstick-smeared punchlines to spare. Just like the pulpy romance novels that inspired it’s title, Kiss & Tell offers pure pleasure for everyone. Word to the rap game Danielle Steel! Grab it now on iTunes and Beatport (and check KS guesting on the new Flosstradamus EP too!)
To get you in the mood, here’s a free download of “Mickey,” featuring Kid Sis and dem Nadastrom boys at their bounciest.
Word is still spreading about our afterparties in Austin this year with iheartcomix, Past Yo Bedtime. Dancing! Sweating! Raving! In a damn shopping mall!
We put together two nights of revelry featuring A-Trak, Treasure Fingers, Nadastrom, Just Blaze, Brodinski, Drop The Lime, Kastle, Flosstradamus, Nick Catchdubs, Franki Chan, Proper Villains, Jackie Chain, Penguin Prison, Sammy Bananas and more. Check the recap video for a taste of the vibes, and some of our favorite photos (by Trevor M. Banta and Jenni Westbrook) after the jump, full gallery here. There’s also a gallery of gumball machine portraits by Tommy B here. Read More
Fresh from the Slow Roast grill comes this amazing package of Senor Stereo remixes, which you can pick up exclusively at Beatport (other digi retailers to follow). The disco-inspired trio of Danny Daze, Gigamesh and Joe Maz have been producing on their own (and in various combinations together) for years, but first hit the scene as SS this past summer with the release of their Unintentional EP – the tracks quickly became DJ favorites, so it’s no surprise that these brand-new remixes more than follow suit, with Treasure Fingers, Nadastrom, U-Tern, Salva, Craze and SS’s own Gigamesh all providing awesome, instantly-clubbable new versions. Cop em!
Check out the newly released Jersey Shore soundtrack album for Kid Sister’s “Lookout Weekend,” a cover of Debbie Deb’s freestyle classic produced by Nadastrom and guest-starring Nina Sky. The album also contains fist pumpers from our friends Diplo, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and… well it’s hard to concentrate when it takes soooo much self control not to flip this with Kid Sis, the Nadastroms and the NS twins into the most epic Photoshop face swap of all time. Dream big!
Bonus beat: check Nadastrom’s new Mixpak podcast for more Fool’s Gold action, including a clever Congorock edit and a preview of Dave Nada’s forthcoming LA Riots remix.
Next weekend our girl is back on the east coast for two massive shows!
On Friday (4/9) she co-headlines Webster Hall with bass titan Rusko, a sure-to-be slammed event which you can grab advance tickets for here OR get in for $1 before midnight with RSVP. Flyer after the jump.
On Saturday she hits Taxlo in Baltimore for a mini “Mad Fools” of sorts with DJ Sega and Nadastrom supporting. It’s also Taxlo resident Cullen Stalin’s b-day party. Advance tickets here. Dance party mania! Read More
We dropped the excellent Afrojack remix of Kid Cudi’s “Make Her Say” earlier this month, and are as just as excited to gift you with another official, FG-commissioned mix of the tune today. It comes courtesy of DC ravemasters Nadastrom, who turned the track into a stripped down, dark and deep club monster – download, play it out and enjoy!
More “Make Her Say” mixes are in the chamber so stay tuned for surprises! Relatedly: you can also grab some remixes of Cudi’s collab with NORE “Floatin In The Sky” over at Media Contender, thanks to our homies at Undocumented.
Update: zShare’s acting a fool so here’s a new zip with the Nadastrom and Afrojack mixes.
