Give a listen to JOTS’ take on “Ultramodern Verandah” from Elliot Lipp and Vyle’s new project, Auburn. Out August 26th from Box Of Milk.
The latest record slingers to tackle Mixhell’s “My Definition Of Hard” DJ mix series are none other than Jokers Of The Scene, whose contribution goes everywhere from Merzbow to Tim Hecker to Scott Walker. Dig in:
#19 with a bullet! The JOTS mix of Salem’s “Asia” made it into NME’s Top 50 Remixes Of All Time, praised for its “nine minutes of crushingly epic doomstep power.” Chromeo and AVH up in there too, check it out.
The internet gods just liberated this slowed down jam from the JOTS archive last night. You need it in your life!

JOTS alert! DJ Booth and Chameleonic are headed stateside for parties in Philly, Baltimore and NYC starting this weekend. First up is a set at the 618 Music & Arts Festival, going down at Penn’s Landing’s Great Plaza in Philadelphia this Saturday (6/18). They dip into town for a quick set at the Fool’s Gold booth at SHOP on Monday (6/20), hit Red Maple in Baltimore next Thursday (6/23), and close it all out with a triumphant show at Pendu Disco (“NYC’s Finest Purveyor of FOG MUSIC. ACID. ELECTRONIC. EXPERIMENTAL. DARK DANCE MUSICK. ALT CLUB MUSIC. NOISE. DRONE. TEKNO. RAVE.”) in Brooklyn on Friday 6/24. Catch them in a town near you…
We told you about SHOP, the pop-up retail jam to end all pop-up retail jams, put together by our buddy Phil Chang and the Wieden+Kennedy crew. But hey, if our word isn’t enough, see what the NY Times, AdWeek, Thrillist and PSFK had to say about the free event, which previewed last night and continues until Monday on the 6th Floor of 150 Varick Street (between Spring and Vandam).
Along with goods from the likes of Steven Allan, Brooklyn Tailors, Rogan, A-Morir and other fabulous brands, there’s a table of new and exclusive FG merch right next to the DJ booth, which – lo and behold! – we stocked with friends all weekend long. Peep the schedule above for who will be playing on each day. Come through, say hey, and buy something…
This week, JOTS embark on their latest techno voyage through the old continent, the “Life Laughter Death” tour. It kicks off this Thursday (5/12) at Pratersauna in Vienna and crosses countries till June 4th, when JOTS close out big at Wet Club in Espenhain, Germany.
Smack in the middle of these dates is a show at Fabric in London on May 20th for Kill Em All, alongside Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, Filthy Dukes, Stopmakingme and more, not to mention the whole Boys Noize crew in the other room. To celebrate, the Fabric First blog posted up a new Q&A with Chris and Linus, as well as a new “Life Laughter Death” mix you can download here.
Last weekend the fam trekked out to California for the opening of Dust La Rock’s “Joking Victim” at LA’s HVW8 Gallery, featuring music by Jokers Of The Scene and multimedia collaborations with JK5, Kareem Black, Angela Boatwright and Bruce LaBruce. You can now check out photos from the opening and the entire exhibition at the HVW8 website, as well as purchase prints from the show at the gallery store.
There you’ll also find the limited edition 7-inch single of JOTS “Joking Victim,” featuring an ambient “Laughter Death” mix of their show-inspiring title track, as well as Vin Sol’s darkly groovy “Trocadero Mix,” both making their wax debut. There’s only 100 signed and numbered copies of this bad boy, so grab it while you can! The “Laughter Death” mix also scores one of the pieces in the show, a video collaboration between Dust La Rock and Kareem Black, which you can check after the jump.
(Attention LA zombies: you can still check the show in person until May 8th!)
Remember the last time we hit La Cita and took over Dance Right? Well, we’re back again this Thursday (4/14) celebrating Dust La Rock’s “Joking Victim” opening with an afterparty for the ages.
Jokers Of The Scene, Nick Catchdubs and Vin Sol will be getting groovy all evening (with bud Paul Devro kicking it all off early) and the whole shebang is FREE with RSVP at danceright.net. See you there…
