The latest addition to the Fool’s Gold Records roster is teenage Philly phenom GrandeMarshall. The young MC’s atmospheric, expertly crafted debut mixtape 800 caught the ear of label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, who quickly brought Grande into their FG crew, introducing him onstage at the label’s five-year anniversary party in Brooklyn as the newest signing to the label that’s launched artists from Danny Brown to Duck Sauce to the world at large.
Download GrandeMarshall’s 800 and give a listen to what’s got Fool’s Gold (and early adopters around the globe) so excited. Featuring thoughtfully brash rhymes over production from the likes of DJ Dahi (Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy), Silky Johnson (A$AP Mob, Main Attrakionz) and even Grande himself, 800 moves seamlessly from the moody mission statement “Dearly Beloved” to North Philly trunk rattlers “GODBPM” and “NP Shidd,” and heralds the arrival of one of the most exciting new talents in hip hop. In a statement on their website, Italy’s Crookers announced that they would be going their separate ways, with Bot pursuing new projects while Phra continues on under the Crookers name. They thank their fans for the support and emphasize “don’t be sad!” with a brand new mix featuring tracks from their Fool’s Gold EP, Bowser, and other fresh heatrocks.

Jokers Of The Scene expand minds once again with Killing Jokes (out 10/30), dosing the discotheque with moody, funky new sounds straight out of the Toronto laboratory they call home.
Kicking things off with a bang, “Killing Jokes III” sees the duo tweaking the closing notes of their J0T5 EP for ten lysergic minutes of Beat Street worthy drum machine loops, surging acid lines, and the absolutely perfect ammount of slap bass. Planet E’s own Psycatron take the song for a deep walk into techno territory, while Ed Banger’s resident psych guru Mickey Moonlight cranks up the congas and introduces haunting vocals (including a laugh track?!? Trust us, it works…) for a Talking Heads-on-nitrous jam session. Lest you think JOTS and their friends went hippy on us all of a sudden, the boys close things out with the stomping piano house coda “A Fine Line Between Nowhere And Now Here,” bookending another quality Fool’s Gold release from one of the most interesting and unpredictable forces in dance music.
Consequence Of Sound premiered the MM remix today, download and take it for a spin yerself!

Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth has been setting the internets on fire like none other with his unique, emo take on trunk rattling beats. He’s a been a favorite of FG for a minute (we just enlisted him to remix Bruiser Brigade!) so we’re proud to present this mix of some of his biggest bootlegs, where he reworks rap favorites from Top 40 mainstays and underground kingz alike, turning them into woozy digital bangers in his signature, lushly chopped-up style.
Subscribe to the Foolcast via iTunes or your favorite RSS reader at the main Foolcast page, where you can also download the mix directly (right click and save-as). And if you prefer these remixes as individual mp3s, snag em here.
Ryan will be dropping a DJ set at the Fool’s Gold Five Year Anniversary Party this Saturday at Music Hall Of Williamsburg. It’s free all night, come thru at 9pm and check the man in action alongside Ghostface Killah, A-Trak, Flosstradamus and more.
