All year long we’ve been hitting you with massive DAY OFF events… now, after showcasing everyone from Duck Sauce to A$AP Mob on Labor Day in Brooklyn, taking the party to Boulder for high altitude sets from the likes of Danny Brown and Carnage, and giving LA an unforgettable night with hometown heroes from DJ Quik to Schoolboy Q sharing the same stage, we’re taking the fam to Miami during Art Basel for our biggest DAY OFF yet.
Florida’s first ever Day Off goes down at Mana Wynwood Soundstage (Downtown) on Sunday, December 8th, headlined by Miami mayor Trick Daddy and featuring sets from A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Dave 1 of Chromeo, Young Thug, Brenmar, Nick Catchdubs, Damaged Goods, Eskeerdo, and special guests galore. The whole event is free with RSVP at foolsgoldrecs.com/dayoff. Don’t sleep!
On December 19th, we celebrated the holiday season once again with our friends at LTD+ and a gang of New York City’s finest party people. Danny Brown and GrandeMarshall brought the raps, DJ Mustard (on the beat hoe!), Just Blaze and Nick Catchdubs held it down on the 1s and 2s, the whole A$AP Mob was in effect, and it was another festive notch in the FG events belt. Watch the recap vid above and check out some flicks from Brook Bobbins after the jump (full gallery here). Read More
Check this recap vid to see what went down at Basel Castle this past December during Miami’s Art Basel. Alongside performances from Trinidad Jame$, Purity Ring, Twin Shadown and others, we had our own FG stage with Chromeo’s Dave 1, Oliver, Nick Catchdubs and surprise guest LA Riots on the decks and Donnis MCing (bringing out Reese and the Two9 crew for even more ATL vibes).
Check our bro Dave 1 guesting on the new Punks Jump Up single, with a lil message out there for the workaholics. Peep the video above, and grab the track on iTunes, Beatport and everywhere else fine digital music is sold, backed by remixes from the upstanding gentlemen Oliver, Gigamesh and Mickey.
Take it easy this Labor Day and come get live with us at the 2nd annual Fool’s Gold DAY OFF extravaganza, once again going down at the City Winery backyard. We’re rocking from 2-8pm, rain or shine, with DJ sets from The Brothers Macklovitch (A-Trak and Dave1), Just Blaze and Nick Catchdubs, alongside live performances from Danny Brown, Cubic Zirconia, Party Supplies and very special guest Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia. #TRIPPYMAYNE. All ages welcome, get there early and be ready to party.
Later that night, the official afterparty NIGHT OFF will take place at The Westway, with the Macklos and Just Blaze once again on the 1s and 2s, joined by host Action Bronson. Full details after the jump. Read More
Fool’s Gold fam DJ Lindsay and DJ Myles (also their real names!) have been catching wreck with their true-school weekly The Hump, recently winning the Paper Nightlife people’s choice Award for best NY party. This Wednesday you can catch my big broham Dave 1 playing a strictly hip hop DJ set.
We threw our 2nd annual CMJ showcase (and one-year anniversary party!) this past Thursday at Webster Hall in NYC. There was much cake, revelry and tunes from the crew, here’s the photo galleries and related linkery:
My personal highlights include Nacho Lovers playing Circle Children’s “Zulu” while giving Armand a pound, Gant-Man’s epic hypeman skills keeping up with Kid Sister’s set, Dave1’s extra dapper suit, and of course being able to rock with practically the whole FG fam (Nachos, JOTS and Trackademicks stuck around all CMJ weekend so we’ve been handling photo shoots and meetings alongside late night ridiculousness and more food than I’ve ever eaten in my life. Call me Nick Fatdubs). Special shout-out to Scion for sponsoring the show and to Kenny and the whole Webster Hall team for making sure our champagne glasses were filled up.
