Dust La Rock Art Show Pics + Video

Posted on Apr 27th, 2009

Last Thursday’s “Best Of The Beast” opening was the place to be, as a couple hundred of our best friends and fam came out for Fool’s Gold art director Dust La Rock’s debut solo show. Queen Majesty, Vin Sol, Nick Catchdubs and Dave1 spun the tunes, Red Stripe and Vitamin Water provided refreshments, Fader debuted their new issue, Worship Worthy made sure everything ran smoothly and a literal who’s who of NYC’s creative community brought infinite good vibes to celebrate one of their own.

Check out these full photo galleries from Ian Meyer, Nicky Digital, Driven By Boredom (who also shot the event for Village Voice, Village Slum (a bunch more on Flickr too), as well as some recaps at Street Level, Hypebeast, RCRD LBL and Herald De Paris. Dust, Trizzy and Catch filmed a MTV News interview which should be up shortly, and in the meantime you can check some video of the show from Bongoboy along with A-Trak’s Flipcam Q&As with Haze and Sammy Bananas (along with some of our photo gallery favorites) after the jump. Dust La Rock Interview on Behance.com

“I don’t appreciate myself or my work being labeled or defined by people, and I have repeatedly and purposely attempted to defy all conventional wisdom as it pertains to ‘the rules’ of our industry…The phrase ‘do what thou wilt’ as written by Francois Rabelais and associated with the philosophy of Thelema is the word of the law I live and work by.”

Duster gives up the goods – and some saucy pull quotes! – on FG art direction and general graphic rules (or lack thereof) to live by in this web feature on Behance.com.

FG Holiday Party Pics

Posted on Dec 22nd, 2008

This past Friday we had our 2nd annual Fool’s Gold holiday jam. Even with a NYC blizzard in full effect all day, the true believers came out to party with the FG fam and our special guests DJ Premier and Cipha Sounds. Kid Sister and Trackademicks cut it up on the dancefloor, Daniel LA Riots and Linus JOTS were spotted with Pepsi-n-Hennessy coctails in hand, Primo dropped “Hold It Now Hit It,” and a festive time was had by all. (Dust swears he saw Macaulay Culkin in the mix but I don’t believe him he needs more people).

Check out Ian Meyer’s gallery of party pics here, and some Trackademicks snapshots here. As a bonus beat, watch some interview footage John Brown (“KingOfDaBurbz”!) was filming at the party on his Flipcam.
