Posted on Dec 13th, 2008

Check out Chromeo decked out in their finest holiday styles (word to the Lox!) courtesy of Dust La Rock, in honor of tonight’s seasonal show in London with DJ Mehdi. UK don’t sleep…

In other Chromeo news (word to Google Alerts!) the sharply caesar-ed Staten Island rapper AC jacks “Momma’s Boy” for a freestyle over at Nah Right.

Fool's Gold CMJ Wrapup

Posted on Oct 28th, 2008

We threw our 2nd annual CMJ showcase (and one-year anniversary party!) this past Thursday at Webster Hall in NYC. There was much cake, revelry and tunes from the crew, here’s the photo galleries and related linkery:

– Driven By Boredom photos (whole show / Kid Sis / Voice selects)
Last Night’s Party photos
– Behind-the-scenes glamour shots (and Q&As) from Metromix
Prefix Mag photos (more on Flickr)
– End-of-night foolishness captured by Nicky Digital
– NY Times story on CMJ merch w/ Kid Sis tee

My personal highlights include Nacho Lovers playing Circle Children’s “Zulu” while giving Armand a pound, Gant-Man’s epic hypeman skills keeping up with Kid Sister’s set, Dave1’s extra dapper suit, and of course being able to rock with practically the whole FG fam (Nachos, JOTS and Trackademicks stuck around all CMJ weekend so we’ve been handling photo shoots and meetings alongside late night ridiculousness and more food than I’ve ever eaten in my life. Call me Nick Fatdubs). Special shout-out to Scion for sponsoring the show and to Kenny and the whole Webster Hall team for making sure our champagne glasses were filled up.

Soundtrack to the End of The World

The second and most recent mix (curated by your faithful author) for the ever prolific homie Justin. Download it here.

In his own words, “There is no theme. There is no genre distinction. There is no big plan. There are only people and the music they like sharing for everyone to enjoy.” For anyone interested in listening and/or submitting, please visit STTEOTW. (via myself at REUP Mag)

NIN "Lights in the Sky" Tour

Posted on Aug 28th, 2008

Bussed it over to the Izod Center in Jersey last night to check out Nine Inch Nails. I’m not a stadium rock dude by any means but sometimes you gotta go for it. Arriving shortly before the end of Does It Offend You, Yeah?‘s opening set which was audibly forgettable to say the least, I took the opportunity to grab some tasty chicken fingers (Meadowlands Mustard!), fries, and a $8 Budweiser (totally expensable right guys?). Win Running Man Sneaks

Posted on Aug 21st, 2008

Right around when A-Trak’s Running Man mix for Nike+ first dropped, he went to the Nike ID studios with our art director Dust La Rock and our pal Kesh to test out some colorways. Now you can put the fruits of their afternoon on your feet by winning these Nike ID dunks! We have 5 pairs to give away, all you have to do is email us your name, shoe size, shipping address (no PO boxes, you gotta be able to sign for these) and phone number, and we’ll choose winners at random next week.

UPDATE: Almost 1,000 entries in a weekend, not too shabby! Congratulations to Erin McCulley of St Petersburg, Keena Carson of Newport News, Ronald Moore Jr of the Bronx, Dean Bryce of London, and Yan Philippe of Montreal!

Posted on Jul 21st, 2008

This lil guy is named “The Prospector,” and he’s featured on our new collab tee with Money Studies designed by FG art director Dust La Rock, available now in two colorways exclusively at Turntable Lab. You can’t really tell from the pic, but the black shirt has a dope metallic gold ink! Here’s some modeling pics, and don’t forget all our other Dust-illustrated shirts over at the Fool’s Gold Webstore.
