We welcome Sammy Bananas to our list of blog contributors, as he checks in from his Brooklyn lair…
The Summer Solstice may be 10 days away, but as it was 99 degrees in NYC today I think we can safely say that the season has officially jumped off. And what better way to celebrate the start of summer than with…BANANAS! I’ll be traveling around over the next two weeks killing dancehalls in Vancouver, SF, LA, Chi and Milwaukee, and I made a mix for this Summer of Sammy tour. It features a heap of exclusive material, including the 4 tracks from my upcoming Braids & Fades EP (coming out soon!) Bump it on your way to the beach, while macking honey-dips, while wearing this, or sweating in your hot ass apartment. Mix link, tracklist and full tour dates after the jump!

DC’s Wale and FG’s Nick Catchdubs just dropped The Mixtape About Nothing today, and you can download it for free (part 1 and part 2) or get a physical copy bundled with a limited-edition 10.Deep “Serenity Now” shirt. Don’t take the Seinfeld theme too literally though, it’s definitely Wale’s De La Soul Is Dead moment: “If you love substance, you love Wale/ But most niggas love nothing, so I made this tape.”

What’s been up with space-age slapatician and Fool’s Gold’s resident East Bay representer Trackademicks? Earlier this month, he dropped the second volume of his Remixtape series, which you can download here while reading track-by-track (hiyo!) commentary from the producer himself over on the Trackademia blog. Want more? Dude’s handiwork is all over the new Lyrics Born album, which dropped this past Tuesday. And guess what! Last week also saw Track (and the Honor Roll crew) rocking with us at the SF stop of the Fool’s Gold x Dim Mak tour, video of which is watchable over here. Yee! Check for Track’s “Enjoy What You Do” single (backed with some big remixes as well as b-side banger “Topsidin”) out on your favorite gold-plated independent record label later this summer.

When we went up to Vancouver for the “Screaming Bloody Murder” tour, Paul Devro posted up an mp3 of Sammy Bananas’ “All The Girls,” a fun lil remix built off NERD’s “Everyone Nose,” on the Mad Decent blog. Download it here for some handy digitized summer fun, and check back for new Sammy joints very soon.

At the Fool’s Gold WMC show, Nacho Lovers dropped a Cutty Ranks vocal edit of Style of Eye’s “The Big Kazoo” that had all the earlybirds in the place doing that Tim Allen “huuurrrh?!” surprise noise and wondering just what the hell was going on. Well, now the likely lads have it up on the internet for the world to enjoy. Send fi di hacksaw! Take out di tongue!

Sydney Australia’s Bag Raiders just remixed “Catch Me If U Can” by Berlin’s Headman. Remember that party called “Berliniamsburg”? Ah, electroclash! But we digress. You can get the Bag Raiders remix on fine imported vinyl or on mp3 at the low low price of FREE over at the XLR8R website. Check for the Bag Raiders’ debut North American single on Fool’s Gold this summer, featuring remixes from XXXChange and Donnis!

Born and raised in Cleveland, currently residing in BK, crazy melodic flow… ladies and gentlemen, it’s Kid Cudi! It’s not a stretch to say that his debut single “Day ‘N’ Nite” (cop on vinyl or iTunes or Juno or anywhere else fine recorded media is sold) is one of the most hypnotic and original tracks to come out of our scene in some time. It’s also not a stretch to say that this remix of “Day ‘N’ Nite” by Italian deejay superstars Crookers is ABSOLUTELY UNFUCKWITHABLE. Its not on the physical or digital release, but you can get it right here for free at RCRD LBL.
