Mad potassium this week when Sammy Bananas hits Pianos in New York tonight, Fuse (with our pal DJ Fashen) in Phoenix on Friday, and Barrio in Columbus Ohio on Saturday. Full dates and details on Samuel’s MySpace.

As previously mentioned, a bunch of the Fool’s Gold fam will be in Chicago for Lollapalooza in a matter of days. We’re happy to note that Nick Catchdubs will be joining A-Trak, LA Riots, Kid Cudi and more bros + associates on the DJ stage, as well as performing at the August 7th Imeem afterparty at Sonotheque along with Trizzy and Treasure Fingers. The flyer is above, and it’s FREE with RSVP – don’t slack!
Check out this dope clip of DJ Gant-Man live in Paris for the Booty Call party, interspersed with some interview footage about Gant’s career and collabs. Edutainment! Also be sure to grab his “Juke Dat Girl” single with Nadastrom and Greenmoney remixes on iTunes, Beatport, and wherever else fine digital music is sold. Vinyl is on the way!
Lock up your daughters and hide your Genesis games, Congorock is hitting our shores for some shows in Canada, Cali and elsewhere this week and next. Full dates after the jump. As mentioned in a recent interview, he’s got a bunch of new remixes in the bag (including a banger for Fukkk Offf that you may have heard various FG DJs teasing in their sets lately) as well as tracks from his next Fool’s Gold single, so come out when he’s in town and break yr ravebone with that new new! This past weekend the FG fam loaded up our hovercraft and sped down to Norfolk, VA for the opening of Dust La Rock’s “Best Of The Beast” show at Commonwealth’s flagship store. Dust’s pieces looked as stunning as the tattooed mamis at the party, Nick Catchdubs provided nuff tunes (including hidden Fam-Lay gems and a gang of FG exclusives that Virginia was first to ever hear live), and we were greeted by a team of Hampton Roads’ finest, including Chad Hugo of Neptunes / N*E*R*D fame. Check out pics from the night from Commonwealth and Flash You’re Famous – we’ll be linking up more as we get them, though unfortunately no pics exist of the donk exhibition outside 7-11 later that night, or the epic Bojangles meal the following morning.
The opening also marked the debut of Commonwealth’s limited edition Best Of The Beast tee, a Hell’s Satans-worthy garment that you can purchase online while they last. More C’mon x FG collabs coming soon, as well as further graphic awesomeness from the man, the mystery, The Duster.
Attention all Chromettes and Funkateers! Tickets for Chromeo’s only NYC-area show this fall went on sale today. It’s gonna sell out, so cop tix early if you want to check the dynamic duo (perhaps with some special FG guests?) performing at Irving Plaza on October 16th.
Dave and Pee won’t be doing any other gigs because they have to finish writing and recording album number three. Whet your appetite with a brand-new track off Chromeo’s forthcoming DJ Kicks compilation, an amazing cover of the Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why” that you can download for free at chromeo-djkicks.com.
The calendar section coming up on our new website is gonna be crayjeeee, but until then the best place to keep up with tour dates for the whole Fool’s Gold family is our MySpace and Twitter, which we keep updated daily with the comings (ayo!) and goings of the FG fam. That said – we can’t neglect the regular ol’ blog neither!
Here’s a bunch of flyers for gigs coming up this weekend, including DJ Gant-Man and Jokers Of The Scene rocking separate parties in Chicago tonight (JOTS also hit SD on Saturday), LA Riots and Nick Catchdubs in NYC Friday along with Sammy Bananas with Switch in LA, Treasure Fingers in Vancouver and Andrew Ross of Nacho Lovers in Toronto that same night (he’s reunited with the other Nacho in Calgary Saturday), and of course the ‘Burger trio who stay hitting towns near you on the DAILY (including SF tonight with Trackademicks). We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.
We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music – and generally just kicking it – so come through and start your evening with us!
To get you psyched, hit the jump to download ALL of the free Fool’s Gold music available on RCRD LBL – tracks, remixes (our own as well as jams our artists have crafted for others), mixtapes and more. Over 50 tracks! Read More
This Saturday (tomorrow!) we’re proud to present Dust La Rock’s “Best Of The Beast” show at Commonwealth in Norfolk VA (FYI, this is the Virginia Commonwealth, not the DC store. Don’t worry DC, we love you too and will be there soon!)
Nick Catchdubs will be providing the tunes, and we’ll be debuting a devilishly exclusive Dust La Rock x Commonwealth “Best Of The Beast” t-shirt. Limited quantities of the shirt will be available on the Commonwealth webstore next week. Out-of-towners can also purchase actual art pieces from the show on Dust La Rock’s gallery site.
