Though he hung up his fedora long ago, A-Trak is a man of many hats. Earlier this year, he surprised the whole DJ community by dropping 2 EPs entirely produced on the mythical SP1200 drum machine. It even earned him a glowing review in the New Yorker. Some of his DJ friends volunteered to make remixes and club-friendly edits of the jams, that were intentionally rough around the edges. Amine Edge & DANCE, the globe-trotting Frenchmen, fine-tuned an edit of “Spit” that has been a mainstay in Skream and Jackmaster’s sets; and the legend Laidback Luke took “Cortez” into a Mongoloidz-meets-Roulé sound on his “1997” remix. Listen now.
Five cities, thousands of fans, a whole damn supergroup of artists and DJs… DAY OFF 2015 was the biggest Fool’s Gold festival trek yet! From Travi$ Scott lighting LA on fire to Skepta shutting down NYC, from 2 Chainz and Flosstradamus turning up in MIA to A-Trak scratching everywhere, the fam went in for real! Watch the full recap video above, hit fgdayoff.com for more, and stay tuned for next year’s edition (which is sure to be even crazier). Big thanks to our friends at Grand Marnier for helping make it all possible.
We brought the whole Fool’s Gold Sound Machine down to Miami for another epic DAY OFF! Rain or shine, it was a litstravaganza for the ages. A-Trak and Mannie Fresh B2B, bringing out 2 Chainz and Juvenile? Flosstradamus preaching turn-up gospel to the South Florida HDYNATION congregation, complete with Travis Porter on some live “Drop Top”? Not to mention Alison Wonderland and Laidback Luke throwing down intense DJ sets, Vic Mensa and Towkio repping SAVEMONEY onstage (and in the crowd), and Denzel Curry, D.R.A.M., Rome Fortune and tons more keeping it sweaty all day long.
After teasing you with date and city announcements (and selling out earlybird tickets before revealing a single act), we’re psyched to release lineups for this year’s edition of FOOL’S GOLD DAY OFF events, hitting Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Miami and Austin starting August 29th.
Label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs have once again curated North America’s most culturally resonant festival. Who else brings together street rap royalty Meek Mill (currently riding high with the #1 album in the country), UK grime icon Skepta and underground superstars Flatbush Zombies? Who can showcase EDM favorites Flosstradamus and Alison Wonderland alongside nu-millennial MCs D.R.A.M. and Post Malone? Top it off with fresh label signings Rome Fortune, ManMan Savage, Bosco, Leaf, Hoodboi, Falcons and Shash’U and you’ve got an eclectic and electrifying lineup, in true Fool’s Gold style.
“DAY OFF is our culture. It’s where the full scope of Fool’s Gold comes together, it’s everything we represent. It doesn’t belong to one scene or another: DAY OFF is generational. We’ve watched it grow, step by step, with pride. I can’t wait to pull some more surprises this year!” – A-Trak
Tickets for all five DAY OFF events are available now at fgdayoff.com, along with recap videos and photos from the last five years of FGDO shows, featuring Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, Juicy J, Young Thug, French Montana and many others. Read More
