BROCKHAMPTON “Dirt” Video

Posted on Oct 7th, 2015

Hailing from San Marcos, Texas (but claiming “the internet” as their true birthplace), BROCKHAMPTON are not your average rap group. Don’t even call them one to begin with: “The All American Boy Band” is how Kevin Abstract, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, Rodney Tenor, and Merlyn Wood describe this one-of-a-kind crew.

After winning the VFILES LOUD! competition with their offbeat style and boundless energy, BROCKHAMPTON dropped the “Dirt” single on Fool’s Gold, enthusiastically premiered by Ebro (“Bring that back to the top… I like this!”) on his Beats1 radio show. Now, the maniacally fun “Dirt” gets an equally bugged-out video, directed by Tyler Mitchell and executive produced by VFILES. Taking place at a surreal, slo-mo photo shoot, the “Dirt” video captures BROCKHAMPTON’s camaraderie and next-level appeal IRL. Listen to “Dirt” now!

BROCKHAMPTON “Dirt” Out Now

Posted on Aug 27th, 2015

“BROCKHAMPTON is not another rap collective nor do they aim to be. They are The All American Boy Band and they want the world to take note.” So declares Kevin Abstract, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, Rodney Tenor, and Merlyn Wood, straight outta San Marcos, Texas. They came together as BROCKHAMPTON on New Years 2015 and immediately made noise with bold mission statements, crazy style, and peerless music, winning the VFILES x FG x MTV VFILES LOUD! competition with “Dirt,” a postmodern posse cut made from spazzy piano riffs, bugged out references (“my iPhone got iPhones so all my friends can talk to me”), and wildly self-assured flows that bounce from syrup-speed to hyperactive within seconds. Download it on iTunes and watch these internet champs bust out IRL at the first Texas DAY OFF on 9/19, get tickets at fgdayoff.com.

Fool’s Gold Day Off 2015 Lineups

Posted on Jul 14th, 2015

After teasing you with date and city announcements (and selling out earlybird tickets before revealing a single act), we’re psyched to release lineups for this year’s edition of FOOL’S GOLD DAY OFF events, hitting Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Miami and Austin starting August 29th.

Label founders A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs have once again curated North America’s most culturally resonant festival. Who else brings together street rap royalty Meek Mill (currently riding high with the #1 album in the country), UK grime icon Skepta and underground superstars Flatbush Zombies? Who can showcase EDM favorites Flosstradamus and Alison Wonderland alongside nu-millennial MCs D.R.A.M. and Post Malone? Top it off with fresh label signings Rome Fortune, ManMan Savage, Bosco, Leaf, Hoodboi, Falcons and Shash’U and you’ve got an eclectic and electrifying lineup, in true Fool’s Gold style.

“DAY OFF is our culture. It’s where the full scope of Fool’s Gold comes together, it’s everything we represent. It doesn’t belong to one scene or another: DAY OFF is generational. We’ve watched it grow, step by step, with pride. I can’t wait to pull some more surprises this year!” – A-Trak

Tickets for all five DAY OFF events are available now at fgdayoff.com, along with recap videos and photos from the last five years of FGDO shows, featuring Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, Juicy J, Young Thug, French Montana and many others. Read More
