As we mentioned earlier, Chromeo bring their signature robofunk to NYC next Friday with an intimate Irving Plaza show. But if R Kelly has taught us anything (and lets be honest, he has taught us many things), after the show it’s the after party – which in this case is a FG-presented evening at Webster Hall featuring DJ sets from Chromeo, our very own Kingdom, and longtime homie (and new BK neighbor) Vin Sol. Not to be missed! It’s only $1 before midnight with RSVP.
For more Chromeo goodies, check out DJ Anonymous’ blog for his extended “disco edit” of “Night By Night” and hit Green Label Sound for the original + a brand new Skream remix of “Night By Night.” Or hell, why not just grab it from this gigantic embedded widget!
Grab the new Chromeo jam “Night By Night” for free over at Green Label Sound. Guitar solos! More on the way, including remixes by Skream and Siriusmo. Don’t forget to cop the guys’ new DJ Kicks compilation, and check them on a handful of upcoming live dates before they hit the studio full-time to finish LP #3 – including a big night in NYC October 16th with a live show at Irving Plaza followed by a DJ gig (supported by some FG friends) at Webster Hall.
Ok, as promised: head over to the Green Label Sound blog for details on Chromeo’s new single “Night By Night”. The tune – and some unexpected remixes – will be up shortly for free download. It’s awesome and there’s a lot of guitar. Meanwhile make do with some video from the mixing session at Zdar’s studio after the jump. And don’t forget about our bros’ NYC show and new DJ compilation!Read More
Attention all Chromettes and Funkateers! Tickets for Chromeo’s only NYC-area show this fall went on sale today. It’s gonna sell out, so cop tix early if you want to check the dynamic duo (perhaps with some special FG guests?) performing at Irving Plaza on October 16th.
Dave and Pee won’t be doing any other gigs because they have to finish writing and recording album number three. Whet your appetite with a brand-new track off Chromeo’s forthcoming DJ Kicks compilation, an amazing cover of the Eagles’ “I Can’t Tell You Why” that you can download for free at chromeo-djkicks.com.
We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.
We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music – and generally just kicking it – so come through and start your evening with us!
To get you psyched, hit the jump to download ALL of the free Fool’s Gold music available on RCRD LBL – tracks, remixes (our own as well as jams our artists have crafted for others), mixtapes and more. Over 50 tracks! Read More
Recappery from our label showcase and the rest of WMC weekend coming soon!
Meanwhile check some of Bronques’ pics from the Bacardi B Live show with A-Trak, Chromeo, and Kid Sister, as well as Stones Throw’s pics from their Hella International party where the Brothers Macklovitch DJed (and Cosmo Baker met Cozmo D from Newcleus, Gaslamp Killer dropped dubstep heaters, Pase Rock styled on em, Dances With White Girls fell asleep, Catchdini proclaimed “Clipse album cuts will be to the next five years of Stones Throw WMCs what Ghostface album cuts were to the last five” and numerous other hijinks…)
Along with our own Saturday night megashowcase at White Room, the members of the Fool’s Gold family will be performing at a litany of other events throughout WMC this weekend, everything from afternoon pool parties to all-rap throwdowns to Fergie’s birthday (seriously, JOTS are gonna take lady lumps to the rave cave). Check the full listing after the jump.
Our promo-only Fool’s Gold Remixed 12″s finally arrived in the house house house. Four of the biggest tracks off our Scion A/V compilation from this past fall on one thick slab of vinyl: Chromeo’s funked up take on Treasure Fingers’ “Cross The Dancefloor,” Surkin’s choppy version of Nacho Lovers’ “Acid Life,” Rusko dropping dubstep bombs all over Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails,” and Jori Hulkonnen’s hypnotic, techy remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite.”
This is a limited, one-time only pressing for friends, fam and assorted DJs, but we were able to get a few copies over to Turntable Lab, so cop it while you can!
