This Thursday (12/12) Fool’s Gold is proud to present our latest Artist Series opening, “Smart Fools,” a highly anticipated group exhibition featuring NYC’s own Smart Crew. Founded in 1997 by a group of high school friends in Queens, Smart Crew has evolved from a NYC-based graffiti crew into a diverse collective of international artists based in New York. Over the years, many of the members have branched out from their graffiti roots into alternate art forms including music, fashion, design and photography. Read More
Fool’s Gold Day Off returned to LA on Sunday, November 10th for another all-day outdoor bash featuring Danny Brown (with Schoolboy Q), A-Trak, Kill The Noise, DJ Quik, Freddie Gibbs, Nick Catchdubs featuring IAMSU and Jay Ant, Anna Lunoe, gLAdiator and more.
Check out the recap vid above, and photogalleries from our friends at Nest, All Hip Hop, P Is For Props, and LA Music Blog, some of our favorites after the jump. (Pix from the afterparty with Daedlus, Kingdom, Sleepy Tom, gLAdiator, and Kittens over at IHEARTCOMIX).
Last year A-Trak hit the road with Flosstradamus, Donnis and friends for the first annual Fool’s Gold House Party, rocking actual homes (and, well, a bowling alley in New Jersey) as only FG can. The whole thing was a blast, so you know we had to do it again! This time it’s three shows in the greater Los Angeles area starting next week, stay tuned for clues on locations…
Black Atlass heads overseas this week for shows with Woodkid, check all the dates on the tour flyer and set the mood with BA’s Fool’s Gold single Paris, available now. Stay tuned for more from this one-of-a-kind voice very soon…
Danny Brown is playing two special all-ages NYC gigs at Terminal 5 this weekend with the mighty Sleigh Bells! Friday is sold out, but tickets are still available for Saturday. To celebrate, we’re giving you two Danny x SB “Brown Bells” blends from Nick Catchdubs and a chance to win tickets for Saturday’s show: just tweet this link with the #BrownBells hashtag and two lucky winners will get a pair of tickets each.
All year long we’ve been hitting you with massive DAY OFF events… now, after showcasing everyone from Duck Sauce to A$AP Mob on Labor Day in Brooklyn, taking the party to Boulder for high altitude sets from the likes of Danny Brown and Carnage, and giving LA an unforgettable night with hometown heroes from DJ Quik to Schoolboy Q sharing the same stage, we’re taking the fam to Miami during Art Basel for our biggest DAY OFF yet.
Florida’s first ever Day Off goes down at Mana Wynwood Soundstage (Downtown) on Sunday, December 8th, headlined by Miami mayor Trick Daddy and featuring sets from A-Trak, Flosstradamus, Dave 1 of Chromeo, Young Thug, Brenmar, Nick Catchdubs, Damaged Goods, Eskeerdo, and special guests galore. The whole event is free with RSVP at foolsgoldrecs.com/dayoff. Don’t sleep!
The night before our 6 Year Anniversary bash, we get the party started early with our latest Artist Series event, featuring brand new works from design iconoclast Bill McMullen. Over his storied career, Bill has worked on everything from Beastie Boys album covers to custom toys to full-body camouflage made of Starbucks logos, and his FG exhibition (titled “Low End Pleasures: Unknown Theory”) is sure to showcase even more of the high-concept pop-culture pastiche we know and love.
The show opens this Thursday (11/21) at the Fool’s Gold store on 536 Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn from 7-9pm. Artist will be in attendance, refreshments will be served, and limited-edition merchandise will be available. Don’t miss it!
