We brought DAY OFF to Los Angeles last month, throwing our long running NYC bash in Cali for the first time ever. Suffice it to say… it was crazy! The whole fam was in effect, with A-Trak, Danny Brown, Chromeo, Cool Kids, Casey Veggies, Congorock, Oliver, Donnis, Kingdom, Nick Catchdubs and more performing in front of a few thousand of LA’s finest party people. And when it was all said and done, we threw an afterparty with the likes of Dave1, RL Grime, Carnage, Franki Chan… Good times!

Check the recap video above, and check some photos from the Cobrasnake (two galleries!), Shadowscene, Say Cheese And Die, The Source, Shout out to Adidas, Scion, iheartcomix, The Well, the Shrine Auditorium and everyone else who came together to make the first DAY OFF LA so fun! Fool's Gold DAY OFF Hits LA October 7th!

Posted on Sep 26th, 2012

For three years running, our annual DAY OFF party has been THE most talked about free music event in New York. The Labor Day extravaganza has featured the likes of Juicy J, A$AP Rocky, Just Blaze, Araabmuzik and the late, great DJ Mehdi. This year’s party was raved about by the New York Times, Village Voice, Pitchfork and countless others. So it’s only right that we transport our hometown insanity to the West Coast for the first-ever Los Angeles DAY OFF on Sunday, October 7th!

Highlights of Cali’s inaugural DAY OFF lineup include performances from FG capo A-Trak and the label’s reigning rap hero Danny Brown, a special DJ set from world class funksters Chromeo, longtime homies and 808 kings the Cool Kids, LA favorite Casey Veggies, and many more of Fool’s Gold’s illustrious artists, including Congorock, Oliver, Donnis, Kingdom, Nick Catchdubs, and special guests. You do not want to miss this one!

The Curious Case Of FGR-003…

Posted on Mar 23rd, 2009

Way back in 2007 when we were first launching the label, The Cool Kids’ debut 12″ single was scheduled as part of our earliest batch of releases. But when the duo decided to drop their Bake Sale EP first on Chocolate, we held back the entire vinyl run so it could be used for a future box set. And waited. And waited… until a week or so ago, when we saw that our old vinyl was starting to hit stores as-is, a random little surprise for you (and us!)

Buy it at Turntable Lab to get “88” (along with the previously unavailable on vinyl “I Rock,” “Gold & A Pager” and “What It Iz”). And check for the Cool Kids full-length When Fish Ride Bicycles dropping soon, it sounds pretty fun.
