We couldn’t be more excited to announce that South African producer, singer, songwriter, and DJ Muzi has joined the Fool’s Gold family. We were bumping his 2021 album Interblaktic all through the pandemic — an album that was praised for combining aspects of Afrofuturism alongside Afrobeats, hip-hop, kwaito, and 80s electronic music.

Muzi has received press in Spin, Forbes, Vice, and more. With four studio albums since his debut in 2016, Muzi continues to progress sonically with each album, combining his influences and creativity into cohesive projects that have captured the attention of some of the biggest artists in the world. Can’t wait to share his new Fool’s Gold output with the world.

“Muzi is everything that we love about Fool’s Gold artists: he surprises us every time we hear new music, I’m constantly telling my friends about him, and he’s someone we genuinely want to hang out with.”

A-Trak

“First few convos I had with A-trak were all about music, how we were fans of each other and about possibilities of us working together.

I’ve always been lucky at meeting people that care about this art thing we do. People that are obsessed music nerds like me and we could talk forever about bending sonics etc 😅 it just so happens that sometimes, these people are the same music heroes I used to see on tv and be inspired by when I was young.

It’s good to know that the Muzi indie ship keeps growing and it feels great to know that MUSIC got me here.

I will continue to do right by my soul and make what feels good to me.

Thank you Matthew, Nathaniel and A-Trak for seeing the vision.”

Tonight At The Commodore…

Posted on May 17th, 2012

It just so happens that a bunch of DJ folks are in town tonight from the Fool’s Gold and Slow Roast famalam. And it just so happens that, a few blocks down from FG HQ, there is a spot called the Commodore with turntables and ample supplies of beer, nachos and chicken from their kitchen. Sooo… you might just wanna come through.

"Mad Fools" Free In Central Park Next Sunday!

Posted on Jul 11th, 2008

Ever since we first started Fool’s Gold, we always considered Diplo’s Mad Decent to be our brother label in the North American music/DJ scene, and the feeling was mutual. We would constantly brainstorm ideas for ways our two labels could work together, and one of the most fun was a Post-It Note that simply read “MAD FOOLS RAVE IN THE WOODS.” We’re not quite there yet, but we’re getting closer with next Sunday’s (7.20) free Central Park SummerStage show, the first annual “Mad Fools” featuring Santogold, Diplo, A-Trak, Kid Cudi, Mz Streams with DJ Blaqstarr, and surprise guests. Get ready! And get there early – there will be free shirts featuring the above artwork by Dust La Rock and Mike Jones of Mishka. Afterparty details soon…
