FLS GLD RCRDS

Posted on Jul 13th, 2009

We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.

We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music – and generally just kicking it – so come through and start your evening with us!

To get you psyched, hit the jump to download ALL of the free Fool’s Gold music available on RCRD LBL – tracks, remixes (our own as well as jams our artists have crafted for others), mixtapes and more. Over 50 tracks! Read More

Alexander Robotnick "Obsession For The Disco Freaks" Out Now!

Posted on Jun 10th, 2009

Alexander Robotnick means “Alexander The Worker” in Russian, and it couldn’t be a more fitting moniker – his tunes have worked, jacked and shook down dancefloors for the better part of three decades. Cult hits like “Problemes d’Amour” and “Dance Boy Dance” continue to be spun by DJs around the world for a reason – they were ambitious, futuristic cuts when first released in the early 80s, and remain timeless club rockers today, continuing to influence modern producers almost note-for-note.

Fool’s Gold is proud to continue the Robotnick tradition with the exclusive North American release of his latest, “Obsession For The Disco Freaks.” The Fool’s Gold digital and 12″ single comes backed by brand new reworks from some of today’s current electronic masters: Nacho Lovers, Freeform Five and Li’ll Bo Tweak.

Buy now on iTunes and Beatport, vinyl on its way! Check his homemade “Obsession” video after the jump. Read More

Foolcast 001: Nacho Lovers "I Nacho NY"

Posted on May 9th, 2009

It’s about time we started a monthly podcast, so here it goes – the inaugural FOOLCAST, done up all nice by Toronto’s Nacho Lovers. The resulting “I Nacho NY” mix is, in their words, an “ode to New York house from the 1990’s. Everything is either by a NY artist, NY remixer, was released on a NY Label, or just fit that New York ‘sound’ of the time. This is stuff we are heavily influenced by when it comes to making music.”

Download the podcast (and subscribe to the whole series to get future mixes as soon as they drop!) at iTunes or via your favorite RSS reader at the FG podcast page. Tracklist after the jump, more heat on the way! Read More

Fool's Gold WMC Pics + Video

Posted on Apr 27th, 2009

This year’s edition of the Fool’s Gold WMC Spectacular was our second consecutive year tearing down White Room in downtown Miami, and we finally got back all the pics and video documenting the fun-splosion. After a packed weekend of shows, we started the day bum rushing the Stones Throw pool party, killed a giant family dinner at the steakhouse, then hit the clurb. Along with all the FG fam rocking on stage (Sammy Bananas, Nick Catchdubs, Treasure Fingers, Jokers Of The Scene and Nacho Lovers – who took over the whole side room for a night of deeeeeeep house and techno) we played host to special guests Steve Aoki, DJ Mehdi, a rare Annie Mac x Fake Blood tag team, and hometown hero Craze, who ended his set by rocking with A-Trak in an epic impromptu scratch session.

We went the whole night long, staying packed long after the other shows closed down (and gave us second and third winds as the party people trickled in). Check the pics and video after the jump, and Ian Meyer’s full photo gallery here. Also peep A-Trak and Mehdi’s solo blog recaps. Read More
