A few weeks ago we ran through Austin for two mega parties during SXSW: a label showcase at the brand new Beauty Ballroom, and a team-up Super Party with Mad Decent and Check Yo Ponytail that took over BB as well as the giant Emo’s East down the street. Suffice it to say… shit got live!
From A$AP (and Sammy Bananas!) stagedives to A-Trak’s big-room scratchery, these were parties none of us will forget. Check out our recap video of both nights above, along with photos from our in-house shutterbug Josh Wehle (as well as a CYP’s full cinema-style featurette on Super Party) after the jump. Read More

Telephoned is DJ/producer Sammy Bananas and singer Maggie Horn, a dynamic duo specializing in unique covers, unexpected pop jams and general good times. Switchboard sees the group turning that vibe into a monthly NYC party with remix and remake-heavy sets from their friends and fam (and themselves, of course), featuring everything from The Suzan gleefully bashing away on a Miike Snow song to Nick Catchdubs dropping a set of ’80s-jacking Bad Boy hits.
You don’t want to miss out this Tuesday (April 17th), when Telephoned celebrates the party’s one year anniversary at Drom on Avenue A. They’ll be performing alongside Mattie Safer and Party Supplies, while Nick Catchdubs, Autobot of Flosstradamus, DJ Wonder and Musa throw down DJ sets. The night is also a fundraiser for CCFA, an Crohns and colitis research organization that Maggie will be running a half marathon for this summer (more information and links to donate here). Good tunes, good cause… we’ll see you there! Check the full flyer after the jump. Read More

Check out this new version of Telephoned’s “The Vow” (the original version is on their Ring Ring EP, out now) where, in true Telephoned fashion, producer Sammy Bananas remakes his own track, turning the funky house-inspired OG into a half time, trippy R&B version.
It’s perfect timing for Telephoned’s NYC show at Webster Hall Studio this Thursday (4/5) with Skeet Skeet and DWNTWN. While you’re marking your calendars, be sure to save Tuesday, 4/17 for the Switchboard 1 Year Anniversary going down at Drom. More info soon…

If you consider “pop” a dirty word, Telephoned are the filthiest act you’ll hear all year. Somehow, frontwoman Maggie Horn and producer / DJ Sammy Bananas still manage to turn even the guiltiest of radio pleasures into indie-approved party jams we can all be proud of. Ring Ring is their first EP of originals on Fool’s Gold, harnessing the good-time energy of the group’s cover-heavy mixtapes and live sets to fuel three brand new songs that gleefully hopscotch from new-wave inspired r&b (“Last Time”) to shuffling funky house (“The Vow”) and the title track’s roller rink disco vibes. There is a smoke machine. Get involved and grab it now on iTunes.
Telephoned will be celebrating the release tonight with a live performance at Hotel Chantelle in NYC, showing off the moves they honed opening Chromeo’s sold-out Business Casual tour, and the infectious stage presence Pitchfork called “the most fun thing we saw at SXSW.” Win Win (Vice) and Skinny Friedman will also be DJing the party, and it’s free with RSVP.
