Fool's Gold WMC 2010 Recap

Last month we hit up Miami for yet another smash Fool’s Gold Winter Music Conference takeover!

Duck Sauce made their triumphant live DJ debut (which New Times named WMC’s best!), DJ Sneak, Just Blaze and (surprise surprise) Laidback Luke rocked guest sets, and the whole FG DJ family put it down like never before all night at brand-new venue Grand Central in downtown Miami. Basement Blau!

Not to get all Sally Field on y’all, but it always warms our cold, cold hearts when we see people rocking Fool’s Gold records in their sets, playing on their radio shows, etc. Lets us know we’re on the right track! Basement Jaxx are the latest addition to the support crew, dropping Laidback Luke and Lee Mortimer’s “Blau” in their new Beatport chart. Thanks fellas!

Nouveau Yorican, a house-y little collab between our buds Laidback Luke and Gina Turner, just released their debut single “Boriqua” on Sound Pellegrino – savvy listners will recall the track’s debut on Gina’s Foolcast mix! The latest addition to the FG catalog is Laidback Luke and Lee Mortimer’s club detonator “Blau!” – grab it now on Beatport!

The release comes backed with remixes by our very own Nacho Lovers and LA Riots, as well as techmeister Noob and – with two different versions! – UK pal Doorly. These tunes have quickly become DJ favorites, but don’t take our word for it. Just ask Afrojack: “kicks donkeyboner!!!!”

Laidback Luke Remixes Dizzee

Check out the ravin Dutchman’s take on Dizzee Rascal’s latest UK #1 single over at Semtex’s blog. Says Dizzee: “EYE-BEEF-UHH!”

Luke’s new one, a collaboration with Lee Mortimer called “Blau!” is out this fall on Fool’s Gold – here’s a video of Crookers playing it at Creamfields – and his still-massive joint with A-Trak “Shake It Down” is out now, grab vinyl (and accompanying tee shirts!) at the FG webstore.

FLS GLD RCRDS

We definitely believe in the power of smart partnerships and teamwork over at FG HQ, which is probably why one of our earliest outside supporters was fellow start-up RCRD LBL, who built their whole site around supporting artists and presenting great selections of free, authorized new music.

We’ve done free downloads and track debuts with RCRD LBL for almost as long as we’ve been a label ourselves, and this Tuesday (7.14) we’re linking up with them yet again for the 1st RCRD LBL “Friends & Family Meet Up” from 7-10pm at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC. Reps from the family of labels involved on the site (Fool’s Gold, Ghostly, Warp, etc) will be premiering tons of brand new and unreleased music – and generally just kicking it – so come through and start your evening with us!
